Hi everyone, a bad start for Willow...hiding under the bed when we woke up, pretty sure she tasted her cerenia in her meatball from the licking and faces, totally inappetent-refusing to eat without fortiflora, didn't finish all brekkie and back under bed.

Hope you all had a good night, and wishing you and your kitties a great day of safe surfing! :) With love, Nikki

Hi all, so Willow's appetite has sucked all day, even with major coaxing and fortiflora and fancy feast added we haven't been able to get her to finish many meals. Even worse was her attitude...spent far too often hiding under the bed. I've broken out almost every med in my arsenal, in the hopes of helping her feel better, even adding bupe on top of the gabapentin..famotidine...(she's still on cerenia)...all with no obvious results.

So tonight I broke out the mirtazapine, which I've had since her first probable pancreatic flare in November/December, but never used; mostly from fear of the possible frantic bad reaction, pacing, meowing etc. Also because I'm not familiar with it at all. But she's reached the point I feel we're practically torturing her with food, and a side effect may be less aversive/troublesome for her, and was worth the risk. So I gave her some oral liquid.

And within a half hour she was more alert and responsive. She is actually purring, and *loudly*, even pressing her head into our hand when patting her....we can't remember last time she did that. And she ate all her supper without any coaxing, all by herself.

I am so, so incredibly happy I tried this. Obviously it's treating a symptom, not the problem, but since we haven't yet been able to determine what the problem is, I'm just delighted this is helping her. And she *feels good*. I could cry.

@JoyBee&Ravan , I thought of Peggy Sue when I had such a positive result with Willow. I don't know if you've tried mirtz, but I just wanted to let you know of Willow's response to it. I hope she's doing better today.

With love, Nikki

I have had very bad reactions in some of my cats using Pharmaceuticals. I really do appreciate you thinking about my Peggy Sue, but I'd be very concerned using Mirtazapine. Here is some info I read about it http://veterinarymedicine.dvm360.com/mirtazapine-cats-how-much-too-much

I'm very cautious because Ravan's Brother died from a reaction to Bupe,( If I had read the side effects of it I never would have given it to him) I'm happy it's working for Willow but because of my bad experiences, I will not use it.

Thank You & best of Luck with Willow.:):bighug:
