I read your vet thinks he might be losing duration but there’s really not enough data to determine that he is consistently doing that and I have a lot of experience identifying loss of duration.

It is possible he lost duration in yesterday’s AM cycle and then bounced.

Yes, that is exactly what the vet thought but then he was suggesting we might go to insulin 3X daily. Oh, no, we are not doing that...

It can and has been done but it is really hands-on. There are many reasons for loss of duration and it can be as simple as not getting the insulin into the subq layer.

Having said that, before I made the determination there was a consistent loss of duration requiring a different approach, you’d have to have many more cycles like yesterday. I’m just not seeing it. An occasional loss of duration happens. It can even be from feeding too much HC food in response to low/lower numbers. That actually happens quite frequently.

Yes, I think the issue of HC in response to low/lower numbers is a good point.
