? 03/27 Blanche 218?@AMPS Libre, 218@PMPS Libre 164@PMPS GM. Does the Libre read higher than GM?

Hello dear fellow surfers!

Today was the first full day on Libre 2 plus, that it was installed yesterday afternoon by our beloved vet, and I was able to leave for work at AMPS +4 for almost a full day! It was also the first day after so many I could catch a two hour sleep after AMPS. I saw the Libre reading a 218@AMPS, I shot the shot, and since I feed all the gang at +2 I came back to bed. Now I'm so cross with my self for not double check the number with a GM test. Because when I wake up two hours later I saw a 212 at Libre but I couldn't understand why her BG was so high two hours later. And I test with the GM and it was a 160! I test again at +4 and the difference was not important 91@libre 93@GM. Then I left the house living her with her bowl (she has exclusive access) full of LC wet in order to eat when she choose to. During the day I saw many low numbers and an 76 when at Court and I was at this close to ask for an interruption and run back at home.
When I came back for the PMPS I double check this time and she had also a 218@libre and a 164@GM!
I double check again @+1,+2,+3 and +6 and always the libre read higher than GM with a significant difference!
If the libre read higher when I see a 76 what I have to understand? That her true number is a 40? I start to feel real anxious.
Is the libre malfunctioning? Do I ask for a replacement?

Also, a tech question: Is there any way for the libre reading to be recorded to the ss without me puting every number by hand?

Other than that, I'm truly happy she surfs at the land of blues and visit the green meadows quite often!

Wow, okay, that's a bit different ... I don't think we've seen too many cats who get significantly higher readings on the Libre. They are less accurate than blood tests, but mostly they tend to read a bit lower than the GMs ... that said, it varies with every cat, and probably with different GMs, too. The best way to get a sense of how it works for Blanche with the tools you have is to keep doing what you're doing, I think ... test her at different Libre readings and see if the results are consistent. And remember that the Libre may be a little "behind" the GM readings, because one is testing the blood directly, and the other is testing subcutaneous fluids.

It is somewhat reassuring to me that when she was in relatively low numbers and you tested, the Libre and GM were close together. It's only one data point, but it could suggest that you're getting more accurate readings when she's lower, which would be a very good thing since you don't want high Libre readings masking a dive.

Libre data is archived at libreview.com. It's been awhile since I set up my account, so I don't remember the exact steps off the top of my head, but once you have one you can log in and download a spreadsheet of her data, and view reports with handy comparative graphs and things as well.

Best of luck with the adjustment! Looks like she had some nice numbers today, too.

The only way to know is to test Blanche.
We have seen some cats read closely from Libre to handheld monitor.
And others are farther apart between the two.

The numbers that concern me are the ones below 100.

My Ivy tends to read Lo or under 40 on the Libre and she will be 60-120 on a handheld meter.

Other cats have been within 20 points of each other.
Testing with an ear prick is the only way to know.

And as Allie mentioned, there’s a slight time delay with the Libre.
So if they are lingering in very low numbers, it’s time to test to be sure they are safe.
