Nova's the same ol same ol.. back up to 1U and it's not really getting her numbers where I want them.. ah well.. maybe will try a nudge once things have calmed down..
I really do hate that 1U.. it's hard not to think gee.. this is where I started 7 months ago.. and it was all going to be "so easy" because I caught it so early.. heck she's never even seen a red number.. where's that 84% OTJ.. hahah.. but I try to concentrate on how she's doing.. she's pretty tightly regulated.. healthy and happy.. I swore I'd happily give her needles for the rest of her life if we got to that place..and she's testing whether I was making it up or not.. she can test me all she likes.. I meant it when I said it.. it's not like I'd get to sleep in anyways with all kitty medications in this house .
Hitchies eye is getting a lot better.. don't think we'll have to go back to the vet today which is nice.. I love our vet hospital and all.. but I could use a break from the place.. the power went out last night for hours and I had to give his eye drop.. that wasn't the best time I've ever had.. the solution for testing Nova's BGs was much easier.. food out all over the place and 5 temptation treats took care of any worries there .
Now that it's Monday.. I could really use a weekend to relax.. hope everyone and their kitties have a great day.
Nova has it really rough here.. just ask her.. as she sprawls across the top level of the 5ft cat tree that's in the dining room.. not to mention, it's exhausting to be so cute and beautiful all the time!
(((Dawn & Nova))) Bless both your hearts.. I understand your frustration, I do.. I think you will be pleasantly surprised eventually, some kitties just take longer than others & I know you know that. Hang in there though. 1u is not that much Insulin & that is a Grrrrrreat thing!! I LOVE the pic of Nova, quite the luxury life these kitties lead… geez!! I hope your Monday is great & take care of yourself too!! :YMHUG:
Love the picture! Yes, it must be a tough job to be so beautiful and cute all day long....exhausting for sure!!! LOLOLOL. Nova is teaching you patience. Did you know you needed that lesson in life? I wish we could and buy some instead of having to do the dirty work of gaining it the hard way.... :YMHUG:
Nova sure looks content and that photo makes me yawn....ahhhh...
Dawn, it does sound like you need a weekend in the middle of the week, you were jipped this weekend as far as relaxing. How did you get the eye drops in without lights, did you hold a flashlight in your teeth? I used to help backstage when traveling Broadway shows came to town and we all had little flashlights hanging around our necks. Then we'd hold them with our teeth to do up buttons and zippers and stuff. We called them "bite lights."
Nova's not trying to teach me patience.. she's testing it.. because she can.. "oh I COULD turn my pancreas on.. but I know that's what you want so meh.. maybe tomorrow" .. but whatever.. I have ample.. if anyone ever feels like they are running low.. teach a CH cat how to LB (anyone with CH experience is giggling right now ).. in all the challenges I've had with my special needs cats.. THAT was the toughest and messiest year .
As for the drops.. yeah..flashlight in the mouth.. Hitch is a real scrapper that guy.. holding him down.. holding his head up, trying to gently hold his eye open and squeezing a drop into it.. it's helpful that I have 4 arms.. a deformity I spontaneously developed out of necessity, shortly after Nova was dx with FD .
Dawn, I have my BA in Patience from being here and am working on my masters!!
I go up & down constantly & have for a very long time now with Moonie(see my ss)--You Have to go up to come back down..
You have overcome so many challenges with your kitties, you can surely do this.
You are strong & in control, and Nova is still a pretty new kitty here, so dont get discouraged!!
You are doing a wonderful job here! :RAHCAT flip_cat :RAHCAT
Keep the faith girl!
Hi Dawn, Just thought you'd like to know that Stu has been on insulin for over 4 years!! (only 6 months on Lantus, however). He's happy. If he ever gets OTJ I'd be happy, but I'm not holding my breath.
Yes, the jumping is sort-of like hopping on all 4 legs at once and digging with the front legs at the same time. Quite fascinating to watch!
Now, get some mid-week rest and send Nova to the party on Wednesday. Stu wants to dance with her. And he's going to cook! What could be nicer than that??
I took this picture last night.. Nova's such a goof.. believe it or not.. she was sleeping (was a quick cat nap after an intense game of bottle caps).. can't really tell by the picture..but her head was hanging completely off.. defying the laws of physics because she didn't fall off.. she's perfect.. and so easy to love .
Just got off the phone with the vet..can switch Hitchies eye drop to once every 12 hours now.. thank GOODNESS.. every 8 hours sounds so simple.. but they were started at the vet, so the timing didn't line up with ANY of the other medication times.. I suppose I could have smudged the times.. but with Hitch you just don't mess around with infections.. or it turns into a *really* big problem..
So now I can roll him into the once every 12 hour cycle Nova's insulin is on.. will be nice to get to sleep for more than a couple hours at a time. I am very excited .
THAT has got to be one of the funniest photos I've seen! I had to study it to figure out which end was up and then read your post to realize her head was hanging over the front end of the cat tree.
What a GOOF! I love it! She was sleeping like this?
