367 PMPS (gave Pepcid AC and fed)
___ +1.5 (gave Albon)
___ +2.5 (gave FortiFlora and fed)
165 +7 (fed)
116 +8.5
117 +9.25
241 +11.5

I gave him 1/4 tablet of Pepcid AC at +11.5. And he didn't at first want his breffis until I sprinkled it with FortiFlora, then he ate all of it, and went to Ginger's bowl to see if she had any leftovers.

Question: He hasn't pooped since Tuesday night (when he emptied himself completely). Should I give Miralax? How long can he go without pooping? I don't want him constipated now. I think the FortiFlora stops him up, but I may be wrong.

Now, I've run out of time again  and have to get ready for work. Sorry, I don't have time to visit condos.
I hope everyone has a good day.

Re: 03/24 J.D. AMPS 301

Dyana, I am glad to read J.D. is doing better.

It is most likely the Albon, not the fortiflora. I just looked up the Albon and it is used to treat for salmonella. I was trying to locate side effects, but none were listed at the site I was at. They do say to be sure they get sufficient water. That is my hint, it is likely the Albon slowing down the bowel. J. D. will need the fortiflora to re-establish his good gut bacteria.

Since he "was emptied" Tuesday, he might not have a movement until later today or this evening. I wouldn't give anything extra unless there is no "present" in the box tonight.

Re: 03/24 J.D. AMPS 301

no advise on the poop situation. Hope you see that "present" by tonight and J.D. is all better.

Re: 03/24 J.D. AMPS 301

Mirilax can't hurt. Just don't overdo it. Since he was emptied out it would take up to a few days. Glad he ate this morning.

Re: 03/24 J.D. AMPS 301

Could be that JD just isn't full enough to leave a prezzie at this time. He hasn't been eating as much as he used to, even though he is eating, so he just may be off a bit. I'm glad to hear that he is feeling a little better.

Re: 03/24 J.D. AMPS 301

Actually, the reason for making sure that J.D. gets lots of water is not due to constipation. Sulfa drugs acidify the urine and can cause crystals with long term use. Increasing hydration can offset this effect.

Some cats do experience constipation with FortiFlora. I don't think J.D. has been on it long enough for this to happen but, ECID. I do suspect that given how well he cleaned himself out and how he wasn't eating, his body needs to catch up. If he hasn't pooped by tomorrow, you might want to touch base with your vet and see if it makes sense to give some Miralax.

Good morning guys .. I don't know much about these drugs, but I hope that it's like others have said, he probably just hasn't been eating like he normally should have been and was pretty emptied out just two days ago so it might take time to be "regular" again .. hopefully J.D. leaves you a nice prezzie today! have a great day guys!

Thanks Sienne....O Great Wise One! Yeah...really...seriously...you are like a walking encyclopedia.... we luvs you for it very much.

Re: 03/24 J.D. AMPS 301

I totally agree with Sienne.....having had Tobey on albon for a little over a month for coccidia. He never had any constipation issues...granted ECID but I asked the vet about side effects and there were basically none. I also agree with others..if one of our civvies has has diiarrhea or upset tummy, it usually takes two days to get sorted out.

I hope J.D. gets well soon!

J.D. was in bed when I got home from work, but got up when I went to check on him. He then proceeded to sound like a piggy eating the sloppy wet leftover Friskies from his feeder. I quickly gave him his shot, since it was PMPS.
At +0.5 I gave him his 1/4 tablet of Pepcid AC. Then we went for a walk.

He threw up a little bit of cat treats and food at the beginnng of the walk, and then ate some grass. Way out in the big lawn area, we found something interesting. I first saw gray fur in the grass that looked like someone had brushed their drooler. Then I spied the hole in the ground. It is lined with gray fur and less than the width of a tennis ball. There was some kicked up dirt and lots of this gray fur and some bedding like grass around the hole. It looked like some creature had just woke up from hibernation and was doing a little spring den cleaning. I wonder what kind of animal it is.
I'm thinking wild long haired gray angora hamster  My cats sniffed and sniffed and sniffed. So, that was our adventure.

It was cold outside, so we went back inside and J.D. ate 1/4 can of watered down FF.

I gave him the Albon at +1, with a cat treat chaser.

He has since gone to back to bed although it is just beginning to get dark outside.

He seems a lot better. More himself. There are a couple of prezzies in the box, but I don't know which cat gave them to me. I thought that FortiFlora has made him constipated in the past, but I may be wrong. Anyway, I'm happy he's eating, and looking a lot better.
I just got done calling the farm vet to let him know that J.D. was doing better, because I'm sure he would like to know that. This man cares so much for animals. I love him! There was one customer there who had traveled from South Jersey, 2 1/2 hours, with her 3 dogs, because she likes him better than any vet where she lives.

Anyway, I'm rambling again.

I'll try to visit some condos, now :-D

so glad he's feeling better, Dyana! can we send Binks' mouse to live in the ground den?

and JD...this is a book for you...

Hi Dyana, Good news that J.D. is feeling better. I hope that tomorrow he will be 100%. Neat story about the little creature's winter den. I love to see stuff like this. We have a mole in our yard in the warmer weather, but I've never seen her/him, only his/her work!

Sending healing vines for a good day tomorrow for J.D.
