Yesterday's Vet Visit Condo

Last Night:
268 PMPS
118 +8.5
and that's all I got.

J.D. went to bed before I did last night. I guess he was as tired as I was.

He only licked a little of his 1st Breffis, although he did climb his cat treat for a treat and all I gave him instead was LC FF.

Lisa, to answer your question from last night, I haven't given J.D. Adequan since before the dental. He get 1-TDC for joint and gum health now (from the dentist) and he's been climbing more since starting that. I could start back up with the Adequan. I just haven't yet.

Okay, off to try to get J.D. to eat some more, and then btb for me.

So glad you were able to get to the vet's yeserday Dyana! I bet those anal glands were what was bothering him....maybe...right? That was great! Hope the blood work comes back okay....

J.D.'s vet called to wake me up this morning just a I was falling to sleep. He said all blood work is normal.

I went to pick up a copy of the results and this is what is flagged.
BUN 53 (15 - 34 mg/dl) H
GLUCOSE 232 (70 - 150 mg/dl) H ...he was 220 before we left the house
MCH 17.6 (11.0 - 17.5 pg) H ...I don't know what MCH is

T4, Creatinine, Potassium, Phosphorus, ALT, Calcium, TCO2, and all the rest are good.
Cholestrol is on the edge of high at 217 (82 - 218 mg/dl)

The vet said that he thinks J.D. is having problems straining to poo. He's said this before. J.D. poos everyday. I guess I can add some lactulose or baby food squash more often to make things move easier.

J.D. is snoozing on the couch. He has been walking fine, Knock On Wood, since Thursday night when I was so worried.

I've taken the cats for one walk, so far. It's a nice day outside, but I feel like taking a nap (not much btb was had).

Hi Dyana,

Glad all results are normal, same problem we have the hard poos ! I am adding some boiled pumpkin to her LC FF , she seems to love it so much.

Good job on those mid-curve numbers, J.D.!!!! Glad to hear that most of the test results came back pretty ok! Hopefully the anal sac expression helped him with the poo-straining. Hope you're getting a little rest today.

Great news on the BW! One thing that you may or may not know is that arthritis can lead to constipation and pooping issues, so maybe J.D. is straining a bit because of the arthritis. If he can go back on the Adequan at this point, I'd consider restarting it, since it really can help with the arthritis a lot. Have a great evening, Dyana!

Okay, I'll put him back on the Adequan. He just fell in the litter box nailbite_smile
He pooed, a regular poo, and then got out, and then went back in and he fell over. I helped him up and he got out and then got back in again and peed. His litter box is about 10 inches high, maybe 11 inches. I like it because when he pees and poos without really squatting, the walls kind of catch what would go over the edge if they weren't so high.

At +10.5 he was 329, so I gave him a TOR.

I'm off to the store. Be back in a bit.

I'm glad to hear J.D.'s bloodwork is good and that he had such nice numbers during the day. Rats on the latest number. Poor guy in the LB, I just want to hug him for trying.

Re. the MCH result (mean corpuscular hemoglobin):
The MCH result is out of normal range. This value indicates the hemoglobin concentration for an average red blood cell. A low MCH indicates a low hemoglobin concentration and a high MCH has no significance. This value is of no significance if the other red blood cell parameters are normal.

We like litter boxes with high sides too, as Zener doesn't really squat. We use plastic storage boxes and cut an opening in the end, just wide enough for Zener to get in. We put a rubber mat outside the opening so if he happens to pee out the opening, the rubber mat catches it. Getting the anal glands expressed can help a LOT with mobility. I'm glad he's getting around better (except for the LB :sad: ).

Thanks. I'll have to go shopping for a storage container that will do. He's gone in the litter box once since then to pee. J.D. hasn't eaten a whole lot tonight and at least not in meal sized servings. He picked at his 1st Dinner. And then went to steal Ginger's who was eating the exact same thing.
Both kittys went to bed about an hour and a half ago, and I put J.D.'s unfinished 1st Dinner on the bed and he ate a bit of it. I just went in there again and added some more topping of freeze dried chicken liver. So far it's Sheeba Beef Pate with Beef and Broth baby food with bit of steak, and the latest is the freeze dried topping. Hopefully he'll finish it.

And, hopefully he doesn't go into a full fledged bounce. Oh well, such is J.D.

He squats a little but just doesn't get down as low as Ginger does. But, I think I know now why his butt was wet that one day. I think he was pressed right up to the LB wall and got pee all over his butt :oops: .

I just got him up out of (my) bed and now he's standing on the couch looking at me, like you got me up to watch you type? I'll just have to open another flavor of food to get him to eat. I'm tired and need to go to bed myself (work day tomorrow), but it looks like a sleep test sleep test sleep type of night. He just jumped up onto the back of the couch and is coming towards me. I better go.. Have a good night, again :)
