Yes DH and I are going to visit Whiskers at the U of M veterinary hospital ICU now. I want to give her comfort and our presence. I will bring rescue remedy drops to put behind her ears(aromatherapy for pets). Will post when we get back to let you all know how it goes.

We are back. Whiskers was pretty sedated on Buprenophine, but she did seem better than last night, although with the sedation it is hard to tell. But I do think she is better. I could tell she had lost weight from lack of food and fluids last night. She looked more plumped up today, I think that is a good sign. They brought her out of the ICU and we went into a little sitting area for our visit. She started to purr right away when she heard my voice and a short time while I held her. Than she just pettered out and put her head down on her paws to rest (from the pain med. Bupe.) We were able to stay with her and pet and comfort her for a half hour. I typed here that I would bring the rescue remedy, and promplty walked out the door without it. To stressed out. Whiskers started to purr again when we carried her back to the ICU. She had the feeding tube in her nose, and IV ports in her arm, but she didn't even seem to notice (the Bupe again). I'm glad she does not seem to be in pain and is resting. The staff said she had been sleeping most of the day, and that they would take good care of her. I sure hope she can come home tomorrow, but I guess we have to wait and see how she does.
We didn't talk to the vet, I think she was gone already, she said sometimes she goes in the afternoon and then comes back in the evening. They will call with any changes and said they would take good care of her.

We would appreciate any continued prayers for poor Miss Witty, she has been thru so much. o:-) , and she has been very brave and strong.

My eyes are swollen and puffy again, just took more benedril and ibuprophin for ocullar ezcema.

I am so sorry to hear about this frightening experience for you and Whiskers :sad:. I was out of town all day and am just now catching up on posts. She is a special girl and is very lucky to have you taking care of her. Lots of prayers for you both.

I'm sorry to hear that Whiskers is in the hospital, Cheryl. You mentioned that her adrenal tumor is malignant -- has she had a biopsy or fine needle aspirate, and if so what was the exact diagnosis? Has Whiskers had her aldosterone levels checked? With the lack of hyperglycemia, and the low potassium & history of hypertension, I'd want to be sure that she did not have hyperaldosteronism instead. Was the Cushing's diagnosed with an LDDS test? A pheochromocytoma is another type of adrenal tumor.

As far as whether the metastasis question, I think that since it's reasonable to imagine that your kitty is not doing well because her adrenal disease (whatever it is) may not be controlled, and because she stopped eating (perhaps she was missing you?), I'd not look for other trouble just yet.

Hi Cheryl - I am glad that you had a good visit. The purrs are wonderful. Try not to sorry - she is in good hands. They will take good care of her. Whiskers will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Cheryl. I'm so sorry that I didn't have a chance today to pop in and say how much that I am praying for you little girl. I have a real good idea of what you are going through right now as Tori was in Emerg just a couple of weeks ago and is not doing well now. We have to remember how resilitiant these little fur babies and that you can never count the feline spirit out . It is such a powerful thing.

Thinking of you and holding you close in my prayers.

I called to check on Whiskers before going to bed. We visited the ICU between 4:30pma and 5:00pm. She vomited at 6:00pm and Dr. Furrow was hoping that wouldn't happen, so it is not a good sign, and the phone staff said it could be better?
Since she vomited they have stopped the clinicare (feeding), they will restart the feeding tube at 4:00am. have added a different anti nausea med called Metoclopramine. She is still on the pain med Bupe. They gave her a bath and cleaned her. I was hoping for a better report. Very tired and discouraged now.

((Cheryl)) Glad to hear that Miss Witty is hanging in there today and that the test results seems to show dehydration as the culprit of her high kidney values. Hoping hard that they find an answer soon and you can get her back home where she belongs.

Hello everyone,

We managed to get some sleep, I woke up at 5:00am and called for an update. She vomited again at 12:00am, so they have not restarted feeding. The vomiting makes me think she is also having a pancreatitis flare. They did give Bupe at 4:00am and she is sleeping soundly. We will have to talk to the vet when she gets in this morning.

The IM Vet called just now, and told us that Whiskers Vomited a large amount blood this morning at 8:20am. We are on our way to go see her now.

Hi,

So sorry her about Whiskers having some problems. It is never easy to do things while they are sick or away even under good care. I have been there many times my self.

Always think of Whiskers when you need rest, you need to be strong for her and yourself too.

Give her a kiss and hug for me.
