I got up at 5.30 to see about giving him more Tramadol but he was happy to have scritches and giving me head rubs so I didn't give it. It is pretty horrible stuff and he was still drooling an hour after last nights dose so hopefully he is ready to go without now. I think it should be okay, given the state his teeth were in he must be pretty used to having a sore mouth anyway. He inhaled his breakfast and didn't notice or didn't mind the pill pockets with the AB in them again. I am very grateful to Julie from QLD who so generously sent them to us.


While Rob was here visiting last week I continued to update Vyktor's condo after each test. Rob asked me - but does anybody care. I assured him that people did care and told him I have never met such a supportive and caring bunch of people in all my life. He knows that my thoughts on humans generally are not positive so he was astounded to hear this coming from me. I showed him through Vyktor's condo and the board and he was impressed, he likened us to face book for cats. I've never used face book so I don't know how accurate that is but I do know that your thoughts and prayers would mean something to him.

Serryn, I don't know you face to face, but do, heart to heart. If Rob seeing your interactions with us and our love for you gave him a glimpse of a side you don't ordinarily show, I am thankful and humbled to have been a part of that reveal. :YMHUG:

LantusLand is an amazing place...I, too, have never experienced anything like it, online or in person. We're honored to have you and Vyktor as part of our family.

We will keep you, Rob, and his family in our thoughts and prayers. And any time I make the avocado lime mousse, I will remember your special frienship with him - with a smile.

I'm so glad to hear that Vyktor is doing well - good boy!!

I got my first post op purrs from Vyktor and he is still eating like he hasn't been fed for a month so I think he's all right without the Tramadol.


Rob's life support was turned off this morning and he has passed.

It seems that he was swimming in a zone where jet skis are excluded and that the particular jet skiers had already been told to leave the area by fisherman. That this tragedy was so avoidable makes it all the more devastating, but for a couple of moronic hoons...

It also seems that he was swimming with one of his daughters at the time so that she witnessed the event. At this stage I don't know which daughter it was but I do know that she rang him at work on Friday afternoon complaining that she wanted to go to the beach but that her bathing suit was in his car. Being the loving father that he was he obliged and not only took her bathing suit to her but accompanied her to the beach. You can imagine how she must feel, if you pray I ask that you pray for her and her sister.

It sounds like the only thing that bothered Vyktor about the dental was the missed meal! :lol:

Was the Tram for post dental pain? I think I would ask for a diff pain med, but when giving Tram, be sure you hide it well in something like laughing cow cheese and get it right down the throat because Tram is mega bitter!!
Even if it goes all the way down, use a nice chaser afterward.

I always had tuna water that I would syringe down the side of the mouth to wash down any meds. I think it's good to give a nice tasty chaser, even after a med that has a flavor like gabapentin in sugar free chicken flavor suspension.

The first time I gave Oliver tram, I thought he was going to foam for hours! It was horrible!

I was catching up on how Vyktor came thru his dental work... when I read your news. I muttered oh no out loud and DH kept asking me what was wrong? I found it difficult to speak. DH had told me about the incident this morning and I just didn't want hear about it as it was so disturbing - we have hated jet-ski's for many years - loath and detest them. WE are lap swimmers and have done quite a few Bay swims - I am always so mindful of people on those things because they are selfish and brainless. They ruin the beach with their noise and intimidation - you can't relax when someone is running amok on one as they always seem to do whatever they damn well like. Is there such a thing as a responsible jet ski owner?

Sherryn,

I am so very sorry that you lost your friend Rob in this tragic accident. One of the hardest things I'm sure is that it didn't have to happen. So very very sad. I'm glad that you were able to give Rob a glimpse into our world and I think he understood.

oh serryn, i'm so very sorry for the loss of your beloved friend. what a terrible tragedy and waste. my heart goes out to you and his daughter - i hope she can move past any guilt and know her dad died while spending time with the daughter he loved. holding you all in prayer.

Serryn, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. How great that you had that last visit with him. Those memories will be a blessing.

I'm glad Vykor is doing well. I've never needed to give Champ a medicine that made him all foaming and drooly...doesn't sound pleasant!!!

Oh ((((((((((Serryn)))))))))) I am so sorry to hear about your dear friend, I'm just catching up . We are keeping of Rob and his daughter in our hearts. How sad , but yet it is so beautiful that you have such a wonderful last memory of him. he must have been a very special person.

O know that Vyktor senses you sadness. I think his purrs are his way of comforting you, letting you know that he is there for you and not to worry about him. I sounds like he is dong very well after his dental.

((((Serryn)))) I'm so very sorry to hear of this senseless tragedy and can only imagine how devastated his friends and family must be. It is truly heartbreaking and to think his daughter witnessed it and may feel in some way responsible even though she isn't is so horrible.

I'm happy Vyktor is doing well after his dental.
