Hi all. Please excuse my potential incoherent rambling it’s been quite a night! power out and phone died so I was all on my own. Thank goodness for the hypo kit with printed out what to do when low instructions.

I took jugs bg before bed and he was sitting at 90, I was up and test again at +6 and he was down to 43. After much testing and feeding teaspoons of hc wet he’s now up to 243 at +10 (I maybe overdid it with the hc food). It’s now almost 6am and My adrenaline is finally normal and I’m wiped but his am dose is due in about an hour. I know he has to reduce but is it just by .25. I’ve never dealt with the lime green numbers before. I won’t be going to work (supposed to start in 2 hours and haven’t slept yet) but I’m going to crash hard so wouldn’t be able to do more testing anyway. Do I just lower to 2U from 2.25 or do I need to lose more?

Juggies numbers have been bouncing and wonky lately. his insulin was towards bottom of vial so maybe he wasn’t getting as much as I thought so when I changed to a new vial would that have caused this low spell we just went through? Is going down to 43 considered hypo?

is he stable enough now for me to go to sleep after I give him his am dose in an hour?

Hi Dena, looks like you have had quite the night!

You would take his dose down to 2U. Numbers below 50 on a human meter are low numbers. We don't call them hypo unless there were symptoms of hypoglycemia.

hi Bhooma!
Ok that’s good to know, I will give him 2U at am shot. the only symptom he had was attacking the food like he hadn’t ate for weeks

yes, that happens when they drop low or sense a drop coming! :)
Makes sense. Self preservation and all.

Curious, his insulin was towards bottom of vial and his numbers here high so when I changed to a new vial could that have caused this low spell we just went through? I remember reading here that vial had insulin still but wasn’t coming out fully in needle.

I presume you would know if there was no insulin in the syringe :-)

How old is the vial? It's also possible he was dipping lower and the lows were not caught without tests mid cycle.

Yes I suppose I would lol, his insulin doesn’t expire until next year. If he was dipping lower that would explain his 317&350 numbers too right, bouncing?
