Again, caught her licking something off the floor, and she also ate some leftover catnip before PS, but not sure if that had anything to do with her higher # this morning. I'm sure the contraband off the floor did, though. It seems like 1 speck off the floor, and her #s rise.

MY WISH: For God to help those ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For everyone to have great #s... For everyone to be OTJ.

Angela:

I think the piece of the puzzle that you're missing is that the approach has 2 parts which occur at the same time -- food AND insulin. Whether you change the schedule or use higher carbs to manipulate the cycle, the point is to increase the insulin to bring the curve flatter. Just changing the food won't have the effect you're looking for.

I understand that, Sienne. Right now, I'm not changing her food, nor the amount of insulin until I see what this front loading does for her, if anything. This is Day 24 of the process, and I think that I'm starting to see a small amount of progress with her mid cycle #s. Yesterday, her +9 was 109, and 7 days ago @ +9.5 it was 121. I'm going to give this front loading some more time, and see what she does in the next couple of months. If there's no more progress, then I'll be adding the carbs and fattening the dose at the same time, correct? Or do I add the carbs before fattening the dose to ensure that the carbs gets into her system prior to the insulin increase?

Hi guys .. no answer from me, but that +3 sure is something to look at! Now no more contraband ok blackie? have a great weekend guys!

There is no difference between a 109 and a 121. (With meter variance factored in, these numbers have overlapping ranges.) The purpose of front loading the cycle is to soften early drops and, hopefully, avert bouncing. It may flatten out the cycle but it's not going to effect the overall range of the numbers. If your goal is to move toward OTJ, front loading is not going to give you what you want.

What Jill, Marje, and I have been trying to communicate is that you need the two pronged approach of using food to manipulate the curve while you are increasing Blackie's dose IF you want to see if Blackie can move toward being diet controlled.
