? 02/17 Eddie AMPS 270 +11 142 PMPS 196 +2 202 (after being at vets all day!!_

Ugh! My vet does it right away. Any chance he emptied his bladder just before you went to the vet?

@Wendy&Neko
Ok, here's a mystery. You hoped Eddie would have some blues today but we know how stressful it can be to have urine extracted and to be in the vets all day.
It's +11 and I knew he hadn't eaten anything all day (and his dinner time was 3 hours ago). So I thought, I'd better do a check now before +12 and PMPS.

What do I find??? I was shocked: after all that +11 142. Like what???? What do you think that's about?

@Bandit
Some cats go lower at the vet - Neko did. Plus he hadn't eaten so went lower because of that.

Glad he's finally home, poor guy.

He is so glad to be home! Good thing I checked him and gave him some food because now we're at PMPS 196 and I was able to give him his 7.75u. I'll keep an eye on him.

P.s. I just looked at the bill: they couldn't draw urine from him when I brought him in & it was their idea that he stay so that they could: they charged me for "hospitalization".

So the PMPS was food influenced? (If I read that correctly, you fed him after you got home, so between +11 and PMPS?)

Ugh on the hospitalization charge. :banghead:

Edited to add: Tubby always went lower at the vet too. Any stress, actually, tended to do that…

Yes, I think PMPS was food influenced from where it was @ +11 . When I tested him at PMPS I was hoping it would have increased so I wouldn’t be shooting low.
Every other time he’s been at the vet he has been Himalayan high so this is a bit new.
so I’ll test him again and see how he goes since we had some shenanigans recently. :cat:

So, we're at +2 202, kind of on the border of things, it seems.

I've given Eddie some LC and will test again if anyone thinks I should. TBH, I'm sooooooo tired tonight.

:bighug: Just a hug for the tiredness, I know the feeling, have had a few of those long nights with Whiskey now - fortunately not so many at the moment but I clearly remember.

What I did in the end was recognise that I am more a morning person than a night person, so I wake up really early to give her the AM shot (between 04H30 and 05H00, even as early as 04H00 if I can manage) so that she gets her PM shot quite early - and then at least +5 - +6 is at a time that doesn't leave me like a zombie the next morning. I acknowledge that I can make that work because I work from home - but my job is mostly insane, so being a zombie during the day is not optimal!

Thanks for the :bighug:, Patrice! Back at you!

In reality I'm a morning person too but I had trained myself to give insulin between 8:00-8:30 because in my work I've had lots of travel and when I have to bring in a pet/house sitter, I've had to arrange shot times to allow for another person to do them. I often wake up at 5:00 and would like to get going but once Eddie sees I'm awake he's relentless about food. Maybe I should start just getting up and giving him some food and then working backwards with the shot time to at least 7:30. That hour makes such a difference, especially around 2:30 am!!!

Feeding that late in the cycle (+9.5 ish or later) might not be ideal. If an earlier schedule works better for you, maybe you could just get up and test/feed/shoot at 5 or 5:30 am and be on a 5am/5pm (ish) cycle, then simply push the shot times later for the pet sitter when/if you have to travel. Just a thought… :)

It has helped me a lot!
