Spacey started leaking urine again.
I'll try to get some urine on Friday morning and get it to the vet for testing. I can't believe that she's still having an infection. But something clearly is pushing the bladder to the limits.
She is also peeing a lot again. But her #'s are not that bad, so I don't get it. :sad:

Everything else is okay. She is very vocal and demanding food, which she is known for. Walking is okay, she even runs when chased by her son. Breathing is five by five.
 
Tess did that a few times after changing her food to all wet. No infection, but no explanation either. It seemed like she was so relaxed when asleep she lost control of an overfull bladder. Spacey has been going through a lot of changes, too. So, hope it's just a passing phase, but get it checked out. :YMHUG:

p.s. Tess was so stressed when I took her to the vet to be tested that she peed all over the vet and nothing was left for the test. Might want to keep Spacey in the carrier till after they get a sample. :lol:
 
Hi Ella,

I don't know too much about UTI and other bladder infections, however, I seem to recall that the vet had to get a urine sample as it has to be sterile. If you pose the question on the health board, you might get more input.

Com'on Spacey... pls back to those greens!

I hope Spacey feels better soon and this clears up. Get it checked out and let us know how she makes out. The only time I had a urine problem was with high #'s, but Spacey's look good. I don't get it either.

I'll be thinking of you two.

In order to properly diagnose a UTI, Helene's correct -- you really need a sterile sample and you can't do that at home. The vet does a cytocentesis (uses a needle to collect urine directly from the bladder) and then a culture and sensitivity (C & S) is done to see if any bacteria grow. The appropriate antibiotic can then be used to target the bacteria.
 
If that's the case I don't have to sneak after her when she's going to pee.
Thank God for that!
I'll ask the vet what to do and how to proceed. I think it's best to do this C&S too. Just in case.
