Last night we had a 133 and this morning 117! The last shot he got was Tuesday evening. Fingers are so crossed he's taking the reigns and working this out on his own (with the help of some low carb food, of course.) Tomorrow morning he's off to the vet for a fructosamine and urine test, we'll see what the vet says.

Also, used the lancing device that comes with the Alphatrak for the first time last night on a #2 setting and boy what a difference! He didn't even flinch and we got just enough blood. Wish I had used that from the start. I'm far too nervous and shaky to freehand.

Lookin good Ricey! Glad the device worked better for you. I hear extra hugs and scritches help keep the numbers down, too! :thumbup

Woohoo, Ricey!

I use the lancing device, too -- I have a hard time poking hard enough freehand -- clicking a button is so much easier for me!

Kim --

Can you get some random checks during the cycle? Some the the pre-shot numbers are a bit outside of the normal range. I'd like to see what Ricey's numbers look like about 3-4 hours after a meal. Also, if you're withholding insulin, please be sure to give Ricey frequent, small meals so you don't overwhelm his pancreas.

Ricey went to the vet today for a fructosamine. At the vet about 2 hrs after eating he was 128! He's never been under 300 at the vet. Vet says to keep checking levels but no more insulin at least until we get the test results back. I could cry with happiness with how he's handling this especially after the stress of this past month but, of course, I don't want to jinx it. However I do want to hug him every chance I get. He's not really sure what all the fuss is about, he'd rather have a little sunbeam nap.

Oh and forgot to mention, but a few of the vet techs commented on how good it was we have been home testing. Imagine if we were shooting these numbers blindly! Thank goodness we left the last vet who was completely against home testing. And thanks to this board for letting people know how important it is to test!
