Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year to all the fur babies and their staff!

I am here to report a happy and healthy Basil, who will be coming up on GASP! two years OTJ in March.

He was getting a little chubby, so I cut his food back by 1/4 can per day, and he now gets 2 cans of FF daily. Every 6 or 7 days, I throw in an extra quarter can. He's doing very well. Seems to have gotten used to "fenced yard or nothing" as far as the outdoors is concerned. He does spend a lot of time on the screened porch, even in the cold, but I know he sees the coyotes out there now too and I can't imagine he REALLY wants to go out there. As a result, he harasses his sister Rosie more and also likes to intimidate the little doggie. :)

He and I are at war because I bought two new expensive chairs for the living room--first time in decades--and he wants to claw them. I have begun trimming his claws and he gives me the long-suffering look but basically goes along. What a good kitty he is!

I was sad to come here and see Rebecca's post about financial woes. I just made my annual donation and want to encourage everyone to do the same. If we all donated the basic cost of one vet visit a year, it would be so great. And honestly, this site has saved me many vet visits. And probably the need for a shrink for me!

Am I the last person to know about this site?

They will, for a fee, do a complete personalized nutrition consult for your pet. I am looking at it for my kidney dog whose diet is a rel challenge right now.

Basil sends his love to everyone. He said he had a kitty epiphany the other day and realized that he would not be alive today if not for this group because his beans were kind of clueless.

Hey Lydia & Basil,
So great to see a condo for Basil. Happy Caturday!! Basil sounds like he's doing great, even though he can't go roaming in the woods, what with the coyotes having an increased presence. Chairs? You bought new chairs without consulting your kitties' wishes?

Right on with regard to this board saving us so much in vet fees. I'm going to increase the amount of my monthly contribution this new year.

So, come and visit us more often, OK? Lots of newbies need help and veterans like you whose kitties are OTJ are a great source of help and inspiration.

Have a great weekend. Scritches to Basil and Rosie,

Ella & Rusty
