AMPS 93

I went back over Squallie's spreadsheet, looking at the last couple of months. Since mid-November, when he went completely off Fancy Feast and onto the Pro Plan True Nature, he has had 7 dose reductions, going from 4.75U, and still having higher numbers, to 3U and staying mostly in the greens. I have to believe the food change brought this about because nothing else has changed.

YASSS!!! Yay for Squallie!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug: That is EXACTLY what Fluffs and I did. That food change to Pro Plan has worked WONDERS. I just ordered a heaping cart of cans from chewy and I can't wait to amass a mountain of fud for Fluffs. Nice to see those lovely numbers Squallie~

I think he's just showing off. Squallie, we're all impressed with your diving skills. Now show us how well you can surf. Remember, you surf closer to shore to avoid those sharks!

Is this a new variety of food? I'm not familiar with it. It's not on Dr. Lisa's list (which is pretty old). How exciting if it is what turned the tide.

Tricia, it's Purina Pro Plan True Nature, the classic varieties are very low carb, and my guys seem to really like it. It's a little pricier than Fancy Feast, but not by much, just a few dollars per case. I really have to attribute his drop in BG to the food because it started shortly after I switched them over, and really, nothing else has changed.

I usually order it online from either petco or chewy.com, but it's pretty widely available. All the flavors in the classic line are lo-carb.

It comes in 3- and 5.5 oz cans.

And it looks like he's going to be tired of 3 units soon too. :D I am glad you've got a food solution that seems to be working. Going to three drops under 50 also seems to be agreeing with him. :)

Ingredients look good (except for guar gum, but you'll find that or something similar in most foods). The problem with Purina is they just won't give you the As Fed values so you can properly calculate the carbs.

But again, if it seems to be working, keep feeding it!

I have four furbabies to feed, so I always have to order a lot of food. I placed an order for $200 worth of food at the beginning of the month, and just yesterday was notified that my automatic repeat order had been shipped! o_O Apparently I forgot to cancel that one, so now I have enough cat food to feed an army of cats. lol. And treats, and meds...Didn't make my budget very happy, though.

I believe the True Nature is lower carb than FF. My guys don't like the beef flavor though.
Yes, Paula, I'm pretty sure it is. Sometimes my guys like the beef, sometimes not, but they can be like that about all the flavors, the little stinkers. Tonight they got fish, which they usually love, and no one will touch it. :( Tomorrow they'll love it again, lol.

I think you're right, I foresee still another reduction in his near future.

Holy cow! I was not expecting that 33! Got gravy food and Karo into him, pronto, scared me! In fact, I'm still scared!

He seems to be acting okay, but now I'm paranoid so stupid little things that probably don't mean anything are taking on huge proportions.

wow Squallie has been busy!!

I am feeding the true nature too (along with others since we are is the fussy butt club).... if they don't eat it soon I will send it to you-

They have been big on the purina one grain free-ocean fish-beef-turkey-chicken all under 5%
:bighug:

Okay, got him up to 60, I'm going to give him another 30 minutes and test again to see where we are. It's still early in the cycle, though, so this may be a l-o-n-g night, good thing I can get by on very little sleep (sometimes it pays to be an insomniac)!

Thanks, Jayla, I will gladly take it, if they don't want it. It won't go to waste! :cat: :bighug:

Great run! Congrats on the reduction!

And too high in phosphorus. Seems most are. My options are so limited if I want to stay away from fish/seafood. :(

Almost used up the last of the FF and will be going over to the new diet full time in a week or so. I am alternating the new food into the diet now. So far so good. No issues with loose poo or him eating it.

The True Nature is a little lower in phosphorus than the FF, another reason I like it. FF is way high!

What is the new food you are switching to?
