WCR: All is good with Blackie. Thank goodness.

Daisy Update (results after story): I texted DH about my decision, and he told me "Ok, text me when you know something". Afterwards, I managed to get a struggling Daisy into the carrier (she fought hard, too), strapped her in the front seat of the truck, and off we went. Nary a noise she made until we were about 1/4 mile from the vet's office. She let out one very pitiful meow, and then was quiet again. We got there about 11, 1/2 hour before the 11:30 deadline for them to run bw tests on her. The vet saw her, listened to her lungs, thoroughly checked her over, after a short discussion about my decision to get the antibiotic and bw, she drew blood from her neck (she's small so taking blood from her leg wouldn't have been successful). She called a vet tech to come and hold her while she did that. Next came the all-invasive thermometer in the rear. Oh, she didn't like that one bit! No sirree Bob!! She tried to turn her butt away from the vet, but the vet had her secured and managed to get a temperature reading from her. Soon, it was over, and even the vet tech said that she'd probably go back into the carrier without an issue. She was right. After paying 1/2 the bill (the remainder will be paid in 2 weeks' time), we went back home. She was quiet, and pretty much loving my hand through the carrier's door bars. As soon as we got home, I brought her inside, and positioned the carrier to infront of the bedroom door (the bedroom's her santuary). It took her a moment to realize that she was free, and instead of dashing straight under the bed (which I expected her to do), she walked out of the carrier, and proceeded to rub against the door frame, with her tail up in the air. After I got myself situated, I got her leftover wet food from that morning, brought it over to a counter that they're only allowed on, she jumped up, and started to eat a bit. She ate a bit of wet food throughout the day yesterday, but it was better than nothing. I did bring her dry food bowl over to her several times, but she would turn her nose up at it. I think it was about dinnertime that I saw her come out of the bedroom, and act almost like there was nothing wrong. She ate more of the wet food at that time, and went back to bed. Literally. Later last evening, I gave her some Friskies Cheezy Craze cat treats, and she ate a fair amout of those. Tried again with the dry food, and also tried giving her some water, but to no avail.

I woke up at around 1 this morning, and she followed me out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. I got her dish, brought it to the counter, she jumped up, and I think ate a few bites, jumped back down, and then we both went back to bed.

This morning, she came into the kitchen before it was feeding time, jumped up onto the washer where her food was, and literally went to town on her dry food. Later on at 6:00 a.m., they were all given their share of the wet food (I take a small can and divide it into 8th's... 4 for the morning, and 4 for the evening), and she ate all of her share. At the 7:00 a.m. feeding (+1 for Blackie), she went to town on her dry food. She even drank a fair amount of water earlier this morning. I remember she ate a bit more dry food after a bit, and then is now snuggled in a red/black fleece-type blanket (she loves being covered in something) on my side of the bed.

The results: Her little lungs sounded a bit raspy (no coughing, or sneezing that I remember); all vital organs are fine except her white blood cell count was a bit high, and something else was a bit high, but I don't remember what the vet said (I hate scientific jargon); she was given a 2 week dose of the Covenia shot, and I was told that the vet wanted to put her on another antibiotic (oral) on top of this one.. She was a bit hesitant about it working for Daisy hence the decision for the 2nd dose of meds. I asked her if there were any side affects if she got both of them, and was told no. I was given the decision to either start the 2nd round right away, or wait a couple of days and see if the Covenia starts to work, and see if Daisy comes back to normal before giving her the 2nd meds. If she starts to eat better, and starts to act normal, then there may not be the need for the other meds. So far, I think the Covenia's working (knocking on wood).

I've made arrangements to pay 1/2 of her bill yesterday, and will be catching up the other 1/2 in 2 weeks' time. They are fine with that, and we've done that before in the past.

Daisy doesn't appear to the worst for wear with regards to her ordeal yesterday. She was a trooper through it all, and I'm glad that I decided to make the decision right then and there to get her in. I don't want to have residual badness spill over into this year, especially when it comes to my babies.

MY WISH: For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For God to help those ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For everyone to have great #s... For everyone to be OTJ.

Re: 01/10 Blackie AMPS 130 +2.5 48 +3 60 (Daisy Update)

Thank you, ladies. I believe that the prayers yesterday helped her, and me. I was so beside myself yesterday that I didn't eat anything until I got home. Then, I felt better, but then the nerves came back since I didn't hear from the vet (turned out they called DH's cell instead of the house phone). Once I got the call from DH, and he told me that it wasn't bad news, I called the vet and got the lowdown. I was fine after that, but definitely drained.

Whew! So glad to hear Daisy is perking up. I hope she continues to improve. Of course, good ol' Blackie is being a greenie, like a good girl cat_pet_icon

Wonderful reports on both Blackie and Daisy! I can totally relate to that drained feeling you get, once you're on the other side of getting test results, even when they are good news. Our prayers continue for a speedy recovery!

Oh, I'm so glad you managed to get Daisy to the vet, and that she's eating and feeling a bit better! Paws crossed for her continued improvement :-D I hate waiting for the vet to call, and then being scared to pick up the phone when they do. I'm a chicken  Blackie is looking lovely in green today  Hope you have a great Friday!

Re: 01/10 Blackie AMPS 130 +2.5 48 +3 60 (Daisy Update)

It looks like Blackie is happy that sis is feeling better!

I'm glad that Daisy is feeling better already. Did the vet have any idea on the cause? UTI? Tess frequently gets UTI infections and almost always turns right around after the first dose foofABs.

Re: 01/10 Blackie AMPS 130 +2.5 48 +3 60 (Daisy Update)

Good girl, Blackie, surfing green for your mama so she doesn't have more worries today. Keep it up, girl I know you're happy your little baby is feeling better, just like your Mama Bean!

Angela, I'm so relieved to hear how much better Daisy seems. Prayers can work wonders. I know how worried you were, and I think you made the right decision to take her in, even though she might not agree. I hope she continues to improve and no additional meds are necessary. Healing vines headed her way!
