Good morning,
Boomer's abdominocentesis is at 11:30 this morning (it's currently just after 7:00).
He hasn't been feeling well these last couple of days. I hope this procedure helps him.
He's still eating ok although he doesn't make any effort to find food....but he will usually eat when I place food in front of him. Up until last night he's been calling me most nights and I feed him then but last night he didn't call me. He does get up periodically to drink; it's strange seeing him drink because the only other time I ever saw him drink was before he was dx with diabetes. I'm assuming one of the meds is making him thirsty.

Since the weather has not been cooperative for photography, I've been spending time going through photos of last year. Almost a year ago we were lucky; a male Wood Duck (in breeding colours) decided to spend some time courting a female Mallard and they were hanging out in a heated pond in one of our parks. Today's photo is one of the many I took of the very handsome Wood Duck.

Boomer my little man, cats like you have a special place in my heart. It's not really a cat without that scruffy "who me?" look and extra long hair distributed evenly throughout the home. I miss our yellow cats but more than anything I'm a black & white, long haired frazzled looking extra scruffy kind of cat guy.
I really need you to start eating for mama and I think about you every day.
This is Jacob, the brother you never knew you had.
009jacob.JPG I can't decide which of you is more handsome, we'll call it even for today if that's okay with mama.

Sending vines and prayers for Boomer's procedure to go smoothly. I sure hope that helps him feel better and that he'll eat something when he gets home.

Beautiful wood duck - looks like a 'painting' already! My thoughts are with you Judy. :bighug:

And we're home. The bulges on Boomer's sides were fluid, we saw the X-ray and there was so much fluid it totally hid all of his organs! They showed us the fluid (they didn't take it all out, apparently that can be dangerous) but they took around 4-5 cups out.
And they cleaned him up "down there" since he hadn't been able to clean himself lately.
DH didn't want to have it tested. Dr Larry also said there really wasn't any point to getting it tested. So we won't.

That’s a lot of fluids. Boomer will definitely feel more comfortable now. :bighug: Now you know why he has been thirsty, the fluids have been going elsewhere in his system. BTW, drinking extra water was the first sign of something wrong for civvie Theo. It wasn’t meds.

Good news Boomer is still eating well. Pass on some scritches from me.

Dickson, it goes without saying on the long haired black and whites.

Vines that it helps Boomer do some eating. I'm sure he feels better and will feel even better when he recovers from the vet visit. Glad the procedure went off without a hitch. :bighug:

Glad they were able to drain a lot of the fluid, that must have been very uncomfortable with over a quart of water in his abdomen. It must have been interfering with everything, even breathing. I hope he feels better soon.

Love your photos of birds!
