Thank you Katherine for your input. What do you do during the middle of the night?
Good morning Adrienne! I realized I missed your question from yesterday. I don't feed Ruby after I go to bed. I leave food out for her that is usually gone by morning, but she eats most of her PM meals while I'm awake and can monitor her. I'm usually up until +4 or +5. I use a microchip feeder that has a bowl with a silicone edge that presses against the lid when the feeder closes so it keeps everything fresh for hours. I have always been strict about when and how much my cats ate and before Ruby's diabetes I never fed them more than twice a day at 8 AM and 7 PM no matter how much they begged. They got to understand the word no pretty quickly. Now they are amenable to whatever routine I establish. My civvie is still only fed twice a day.

Thanks so much for the response Katherine. We have a lot of issues with Dolly, sinusitis and terrible congestion. Can’t smell her food. Auto feeder won’t work for her, she won’t eat cold food, at least room temperature or warmed up gives some off some food odor. Being a social eater, I need to sit with her for her to eat. The only time she will eat without me is during the night with her food close to my bed. It also takes her forever to eat a meal. While she is eating you can see and hear the bubbles of congestion blocking her from being able to smell, it is painful to watch. She has been on so many different meds the last seven years. One worked well for a year then stopped. I just started giving it to her again in hopes it will work again. Thank you again. You and Ruby have a beautiful day:D:bighug::D
