GA 01/02 Moe has earned his wings

Good morning all. AMPS is 85 today. Moe continues to struggle with his foot pain. He growled and hissed at us several times overnight if the foot got bumped; maybe he needs to take up a little less space in the bed? I laugh, but it hurts me to know that he's in such pain. Liquid Gabapentin administration continues to be a failure, so no help there.

I sent an email to the vet this morning with Moe's curve numbers from yesterday, double tracked with the Relion and the Alpha Trak meters. He's pretty much where the vet wants him to be, between 100 and 150 on the AT. I included links to Moe's spreadsheet and videos of him walking, along with a description of where I think his pain is coming from. Also a request for a different pain med option. Vet opens at noon, so I might hear from her by the end of the day if she's working today.

Is there a way to post videos here? I tried using the "upload a file" button, but it seems to be only for photos, and the videos are .mov files. I could try sharing a link to my one drive, perhaps?

 

Nice start to Moe though sorry about his toe Can you put the liquid gaba in his food (just a thought, I've never done this but am going to do it with Jax's gaba pill for his vet visit this week)?

I tried adding the gaba to his favorite treat (TikiStix chicken). He took a couple of licks, gave me a "how dare you?!?" look, and walked away. Apparently it's got enough taste, either the med or the "chicken flavor", that he recognized it and won't touch it. It might have worked if I'd tried it in the treat first, but since he knows the taste of it now, it's a no-go.

Moe's numbers look great!! Sorry about his foot pain, poor guy. Hopefully the vet can give you something different to help with it.

85 at +10. He's just eaten a little bit of FF, followed by some TikiStix with a zobaline crushed in it. I guess the zobaline has no flavor, because he didn't hesitate at all to lick the treat right up. So yay for that, he will still eat the treats.

 

64 at +2.5

 

Moe has suddenly gotten worse. He walked into my room with his front right foot folded under, stumbling and pupils dilated. His paw was cold but he was still able to walk around somewhat and able to make small jumps (floor to chair to table). I’m waiting now in the ER parking lot while they assess him. All prayers, vines and positive thoughts appreciated. I’m terrified I’m going to lose him. His litter mate died from thrombosis at the age of three.

Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.

when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet,
you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again -
and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting
pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.

Thank you, all. I am trying to function this morning. So strange to get up and not have to test Moe’s glucose or poke a pill into him. And to leave “his” bowl unfilled while feeding the rest of the cats

I suspect that his rear leg and foot pain and struggle to walk that started Thursday was actually the beginning of this. The ER vet mentioned that he had multiple clots; perhaps he was having smaller ones that led up to this more serious one.

I am happy he is pain free, but my heart has a hole in it today.

 

Oh ((Erin)) - my heart breaks for you. Moe is flying high and pain free You worked tirelessly to help him and took such wonderful care of him. I'm so so so sorry for your loss
