The downside (and frustrating side) of SLGS is that you're required to take more frequent dose reductions, sometimes when they are starting to show some action on a dose. On TR, the reduction number is below 50 for newly diagnosed kitties. For that reason, getting those numbers down can sometimes take a bit longer on SLGS. I hope she will continue with her momentum on this new dose (and I know you do too!) and get back into those greens.

It's frustrating to see those pinks when they have such nice blue and green streaks beforehand, but it's normal, her body is still adjusting to being in lower numbers (and thats when we get those stinky bounces) just try to be patient, there's nothing you can do except what you're already doing, and remember she will come back down. Cats handle higher numbers much better than humans do, and as long as you're checking for ketones and continuing what you're doing, you'll see those pretty blues again.
I switched back to doing TR because I didn't like seeing so many pink/high numbers after every reduction. Every cat is different so Lola may just need time to adjust to the reduction, but that's unfortunately one of the downsides of SLGS and reducing at 90, you'll see some higher numbers for awhile before it gets better again. Hang in there 🫂💕

Thank you Elizabeth 🙏 It makes me feel better that so many other people in this forum are going through exactly what I am with Lola. Idk what I would’ve done by now without the forum!!!
 
Another pink number :/ I’m over here thinking maybe this morning I didn’t give her insulin correctly or something. Maybe it’s just a bad day for Lola today awwww :(
 
Did you smell insulin on her fur? If not, it's likely just a bounce. Look at Jude today. Bounce! Looks like I didn't even give him insulin 🫣 I wonder if Lola hit a lower number last night after +4 (I'm wondering the same about Jude--I stopped testing, but he was going down at the last test🤔). Bounces are very annoying! Normal, but annoying.

No I smelled her afterwards and didn’t smell any. Thank you for making me feel better :) I love looking at other spreadsheets and seeing the data.
 
Should I be worried that there was a really small drop of blood on the syringe this time when I administered Lola’s insulin tonight? It’s the first time I’ve ever seen that happen but I smelled her afterwards and I didn’t smell any insulin spillage. She did twitch a little on the injection this time :/

TY again! She's had high numbers all day so I've been stressed thinking I'm doing something wrong. Then I see the small drop of blood and I'm like oh this is it. I've officially lost my marbles lol

Yeah I stopped myself from testing her again around the +10/+11 I was like there’s no way she went down so I might as well just wait till her PMPS to check her. I was so happy seeing her constant blue numbers but it’s ok, it’s alright, she will come down eventually 🙏 At this point idk what’s more stressful, seeing her numbers go back up high or seeing her have a green for the first time and getting worried she’s going to go too low 😆

You guys we finally got a blue number!!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!!! I was starting to get so nervous about her numbers but now I’m so glad 😭😭😭 I’m going to give her a treat as a reward hehe <3

I am already in bed but I’ll test her again in 1 hour and see what she’s at! If she goes a lot lower I’ll give her another snack and maybe stay up another hour to check her again. Lol I was so stressed all day that her numbers were high and now I’m like hold on wait a minute…..that’s a big drop 😭😭😭 hahahahaha
 
We have a green!!!!! Ahhhh! I cannot help but wonder if maybe I didn’t administer her insulin correctly this morning? She’s responding so well tonight so it has me confused.

Anyways I gave her 3tsp of wet food as a snack since she had a dip from +3 to +4. I’m going to recheck her at +5 and hope she stayed steady so I can finally go to sleep 🙏 very proud of her green :)
 
Okay her snack worked! She came up from her +4 to her +5 so I’m going to bed now! :) so sleepy, goodnight everyone <3
