Hello all! Finally heard from our vet who is asking for a curve - 16 hours with testing every 2 hours. I’m feeling so nervous! Sad about the amount of pricks but I know in my soul it is for her betterment.

Working some work schedules to ensure we can do this, aiming for Friday or Sunday. Wish me luck!! Any tips/tricks appreciated.

I looked back through your posts, and it looks like you've gotten some testing tips already, so I'm probably going to be redundant here.
Are you warming the ears with a sock? Are you placing a little cotton pad beneath the ear as you poke? Are you giving LC treats before, during, and after the testing session? Are you getting your pokes in the sweet spot (less pain closer to the edge)?

Sending you all the good luck wishes we can!! Cheech is SO fortunate to have you caring for her!

Hello friend! Any tips are always welcome!

I am not using a sock, she is a little adverse to having things by her ears, but before we test, I give her lots of pets and scratches and as I do that I rub up her ears and I can see them getting a little red from my rubbing so that there’s blood flow. I am using a cotton pad underneath, I am trying my very best to be in the sweet spot, and she gets a licky mat with freeze dried chicken breast and a churu as a distraction. I feel like I need to invest in churu for the amount that I run through 😭

I am most definitely going to try the sock! I think she can most likely sense my energy and that makes her annoyed with me. I wish sincerely that I could talk to her and tell her that I’m doing it for her!!

Thank you for checking in, we are about a month and a half into this journey, and it has been more difficult and ways that I wouldn’t have imagined, but also has made me so affirmed in the fact that anything I can do for her, I will do. It gives me an amazing amount of respect for every single person in this forum who’s been navigating this for much longer than me ❤️

Don't go nuts testing every 2 hours on the dot. If your cat won't cooperate, don't force it. Do the best you can and get as many tests as possible. 12 hours is plenty, from the morning PS to the evening PS.
