Continuation of Borg the Gorb #3

Back over here, NO WAY!!! he has be finding food somewhere, have you tested for KETONES? You can get a kit from your pet store or Walmart, it’s cheap, you need to place the ketone stick under George while he pees, or putting a container where he pees, but it has been clean pee not from the litter, It might be Ketones, nothing to be alarmed with, Ketones go away with food, check in our main menu under Q&A I don’t have the laptop handy I’m using my phone, but nothing to alarm yourself alright? If is not high carbs he’s getting into it might be Ketones it does raise the BGs is common in diabetic cats
@Sienne and Gabby (GA)
Could you help George parents to perhaps figure out why his BG is good and in 2 hour is in the 300’s, please, thank , there are about threads #2-#3plus the main thread

I asked my MIL and she let him outside and he ate grass, even though we have told her not to let george outside

As for Ketones, the urine test says there are none, but i can test him myself if need be

I also bought a blood glucose monitor that monitors ketones as well, but it wont arrive until tomorrow so hopefully that will help clear it up. Its a human monitor, is that okay?

Should I continue with only one unit or give him an increase of .25?

Edit: im not going to increase it, id rather underdose him than over dose him

I do not give dosing advice, wait till the member I tagged can help you with dosing, and most likely answer what I have not been able to, I am sorry I cannot give you a solid solution to what's going on with George's BG, and you re right, I would not increase just yet, you are still not comfortable, with so much variables., George did have a better day with better levels, than yesterday, perhaps he's still bouncing from highs to lows and vs vs, I'll check back before 11:30 tonight, and early tomorrow morning, .I feel really bad I don't have a solid answer for you

Alrighty, ill keep the SS updated. Thank you for your advice regardless!!!

We are crisscrossing threads, let’s stay in #3 , if George was tested and no Ketones are present, then that is not the reason for high BGs if he’s going outside, is there garbage he can get into? Perhaps? You dont Need to test for ketones all the time maybe at least once a month or so?

Theres no garbage in the fenced back patio where he is allowed, the garbage is kept up front. Im thinking he ate some grass but im not sure if that would spike his blood sugar

Are you firing me already?😂 I tagged another member because I don’t give dosing advice that’s all, I hope I didn’t upset you, is a pleasure helping you in all other matters that I am capable of

No im not upset! Im sorry if that came off as rude, that was not my intention. I struggle with communicating and text is much more difficult to interpret! Im sorry! 😅

Not offended, you have a good night, remember breath in breath out George is in great hands with you, he’s very lucky to have you

Good ready for shot? * 4 should be a breeze if he’s above 100 call it a night NO CARBS , under 100 follow the feed test but only then and low carbs all the way, but I don’t think he’ll need it

Good morning! I had a question. Would I be able to slowly transition his insulin time to 6am/pm instead of 10am/pm? Just because I will be returning to work soon and that time would be more beneficial

I see better numbers for George, when you start changing the shot time make sure you are home at lest tge first two test, George will still have some insulin in his system, so do not be afraid that his first two test after shot will be lower until you finished the process he will stabilize again, if need to remember to feed the low carb at +2 and +4, George is a champ and you are doing great, I’m sure you are gaining confidence, tge SS is such a great tool, you see how the insulin process throughout the day in about 2-3 more days you’ll start to see a steady pattern in numbers

Well look st that, finally George is stabilizing, Beautiful blues this morning! I am thrilled, Go George!

I’m glad for you and George, ask for 2-3 insulin refills and a prescription for the syringes, tell the vet that you want U100 syringes with 1/2 marking, a box of 100 syringes will last you a while, always have an extra unopened vial at hand , since an opened vial lasts 28 days

What a beautiful day for George, I am here if you need assistance before shot, remember to test two hour before shot, we'll take it from there if needed, I am impressed with these row of numbers, it looks like Mil has a better understanding now, you should show her the SS, so she can be proud

Hes about 157 right now. Should I shoot or no?

you shoot at 10:00 correct? you have plenty of time to decide, but if he stays this good of course, is under 100 under remember that you can make that decision, I had just finished reviewing the SS, George has had an amazing day, hopefully you an make that shot, so he stays stabilized, is best not to miss a shot, or you can always stall the shot, we'll work on it

I shot yesterday at 9:30 and will be shooting today at 9 in those 30 minutes less each day like you mentioned so he could get used to his shot at 6 instead

test at 9:00 post it, I'm pretty sure it will be ok to test, then you will test at +2, do not give any food till after PPMPS, or feeding time, we want to get a true reading, and fed low carbsw

Suzanne have a good suggestion, at the Lantus Forum in case if you and George need dosing advice, there a more members there to assist you quicker than waiting for a member I may tag, I’m still here for you for anything else you may need, You have done great with George he’s right on track I’m happy for you and George ❤️ :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:
