A few days away...caregiver recommendations

Hi friends. I live in Chicago, IL, and am traveling for 4 days next week. I obviously need to find a special caregiver for Cleo. Does anyone have any recommendations for finding caregivers? Or if anyone knows any Chicago sitters. Thank you in advance.

Ask the vet techs are your vet's office. Many vet techs do pet sitting on the side for the extra money. If not, they may now of other people who can pet sit.

Some vets offer boarding. A boarding place is another option. There may be a cat-only boarding place in your area.

Try the member's map: Members map Not all members will show up on the map if they have privacy settings on but it'll give you a general idea of who lives in your area. The map only shows people who have logged onto the board in the past year and when they last logged in. You could send a PM to members in your area asking for pet sitter recommendations and hope to get a response.

I've heard of people using the Rover app/site to find people sometimes, since it's an app used to find pet sitters. You can check people's profiles and it'll show a star rating and reviews. Unfortunately there isn't an option to check off for specific needs like diabetes but most people will note it in their profile if they can administer insulin and test.

EDIT TO ADD: If you sign up, and add your pet's profile, you can mark that your cat needs insulin and THEN once you save that, it'll show sitters that have injection experience.

The other place to look is on the NextDoor app.

I used to live in Chicago but it's been a long time since I lived there and my resources aren't the best. You could try contacting Cat Hospital of Chicago and see if they have any recommendations.
