9/8 Esse AMPS 128 (Libre) +6 44 (Contour)

Welp, today was 6 cycles back on 1.75 and he's gone under 50 again. If we reduce, it'll be our third time in the last month going from 1.75u to 1.5u. Both other times he's gone back up into the yellow after we reduce. For our dosing experts, here are my thoughts on next moves--very open to advice!

Option 1 - We pingpong back and forth between 1.5 and 1.75 as long as we need to
Option 2 - We adjust reduction criteria? I know for long-term diabetics, they can adjust to seeing lime 3x in some number of days. Esse only started insulin/got his official diagnosis this year, but technically his first high fructosamine was last Spring--he was just diet-controlled between then and now.
Option 3 - Get calipers and try a dose between 1.5 and 1.75?
Option 4 - Introduce a slightly higher carb snack in place of his usual +2/+3 LC FF pate?

Actually, for any cat that doesn't hold reductions well (short and long term diabetics), you can move to 3 times between 40 and 49 on 3 separate days, or once under 40 as the reduction criteria.

You could in addition feed a snack around +1.5 and +2.5. Sometimes he dives at +2 and sometimes at +3. You want to get the food on board about 1/2 hour before the dive happens.

Oh, awesome, we'll implement that, then. I'm glad there's an approved strategy here.

This has got me thinking... He does get AM cycle snacks, but we're not very consistent about the timing, mostly we wait until he asks for food (usually between +2 and +3 and then again an hour or two later). His PM post-shot snack is actually more reliable because we plate it up right before we go upstairs for bed, so he typically eats at least some of it between +1.25 and +1.75. So you might be right that we're just not giving him snacks early enough! We'll try a more consistent feeding schedule in the AM--starting a little earlier--and see where that gets us.

Thanks for the quick answer!

Good luck with the tinkering of snacks. That may make the difference.
And calipers are always a good idea.
You’re doing a great job with Esse! 💝🏄‍♂️🌊

Ou so much learning in your condo today!! It’s great to hear that 40s x3 works for all cats that don’t hold reductions well. All your other options sounded well thought out and good too. Looking forward to seeing what happens for Esse!
Safe surfing 🤗
