BbB!

She had a real nice stretch there after bumping back up to 5 units. Hoping she comes down soon.

I started her on gabapentin today. Gave her about 1/3 of a 100 mg capsule. It seemed like a success! I didn't notice her zonked out like she had previously been on higher doses of gabapentin. When she jumped up on my chest today the fur on her backside seemed to not wiggle as much. I was even able to get some tufts out back there. Too soon to know for sure, but i'm pleased with some potential progress. Anything I should watch out for with gabapentin? I plan on giving the same amount twice a day and adjust the dose as needed once she's had some time on this one. I've read that if you stop gabapentin, you need to ween off the dose or there can be serious withdrawal effects.

I hate having on this for the rest of her life, but if it eases her discomfort it seems worth it. Does anyone know if cats build up tolerance to this stuff in the long-term?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Tonight I think she had too much. Stumbling around. Sleepy. I am playing with her but she is definitely off balance. I don’t like it.

Maybe she needs to get used to the medication or I need to dial the dosage back…

Hi Seth, since the smallest dosage with the capsules that it comes is 100 mg, you can obviously divide that into smaller amounts. Or you can have it compounded (and made into other doses I believe).
I have 100 mg breakable tablets made at Wedgewood pharmacy and they are designed to break into 1/4 or half pieces so I can give a small as 25 mg in each piece.
Maybe that’s something to look into.
Stokes pharmacy also is a compounding pharmacy that has similar products.

I’m sure there are others as well.
I hope you find the right dose that will work for Bell 💞
