Last post @Suzanne & Darcy Labs are updated. Thyroid is just barely within normal limits. He's been acting ever so slightly off - less active, less social - so we're hoping it's just an adjustment period. Vet wants to increase methimazole dose once he starts perking back up (unless it takes too long, then we'll do it anyway). Pleasant surprise, kidneys are still hanging in there! Interesting surprise, wbc, neu, mono all low. I remember reading in the methimazole pamphlet about that being a rarer side effect. Just have to be very cautious about infection, but at the moment it's lesser of two evils compared to thyroid.
Leave it to Mr. Kitty to have one of the rarer side effects! I’m glad his kidney values are pretty stable. Go Mr. Kitty! Defy the odds! We love it! At least his lower leukocytes are not super low, just a little out of range. I hope y’all can work out the best dose for him of the methimazole.
Hola! We are doing ok, though the little madam has worked her way up to 7.5u - still a long way better than this time a year ago! I even braved going away for a week and leaving her in the care of a petsitter, and everyone survived intact. I was pleased to see Mr Kitty is still with us though unfortunately clearly still keeping you on your toes. Hope you and family are all hanging in there ok!
Hi Melissa , I hope Mr Kitty perks up, happy to see his kidney values are good. I hope you're feeling good too. Give him kisses for me.
Hi Liz! I miss you. You still do a great job with Minnie. How is Sam? It’s absolutely wonderful that you were able to get away. You must have a good pet sitter.
Oh Suzanne I am so dumb He is just fine and has been! What didnt register in my brain was Pippi (dog) happened to be in bed one night a few weeks ago - she never sleeps in bed at night, so they each startled each other. That's why he isn't coming back in the room, he's been sleeping in the doorway. She was also managing to sneak into his room while we were gone so that didn't help either. Going to talk to vet this week about increasing methimazole dose to nudge that T4 down some more.
Oh. So there’s been some dog/cat interaction going on that Mr. K has not been happy with! Good idea about going ahead with the methimazole increase.
Oh geez been a month already?? He's good. He seems all back to normal now, so going to talk with the vet about increasing the methimazole dose. So far no other signs of kidney troubles progressing, SCL/IBD seems ok for now. Had a lot of vomiting lately, but discovered DH had been giving him catnip. Always makes him throw up We put my daughter in her "big girl room" and he just loves to be in there with her, makes me happy
Sounds like a good report Does he eat the catnip and then throw up? She gets a new room and the baby is moving into her old one?
Yep, eats it then it comes back up. Vet actually said to keep same methimazole dose for now. It's a giant room shuffle lol Mr kitty currently has his own guest room (mostly to contain all his messes). So she moved into a spare room, son moved into her room, baby will be in our room for a bit. Then Mr Kitty gets the boot sometime next year. He's spoiled!
Ooo mr kitty getting evicted for another human sibling. Poor guy! Arent all of us spoilers of our fur babies though I mean I know I am LOL
