Has anyone any information about removal of cataracts. I have a specialist vet eye hospital near me but the only information on the web page is about dogs. Does anyone have any literature about cataract removal in cats in particular I gather it is far more complicated in dogs than humans with a success rate of 80%. Cats have large eyes so I am guessing it is equally complicated but I have no idea. Thanks

From my reading, the success depends upon the cause of the cataracts. Some are are candidates wheile can gain some vision by removal of the cataract but are not candidates for artificial lens insertion.
Is the cause of the cataracts known? Have they formed recently?

I have a 14 year old civi. Here cataracts were first noted when she was ~8 weeks old. They are progressing, the vet now can't see the retina. She seems to see adequately.

Thanks. They are probably diabetes related but don't know for sure. Looking into options with eye hospital.
