While not required I would get another test in an hour. I would not have shot .25 this morning given the bg was normal this morning. If there’s a drop under 50 a reduction will be earned.

Here’s why. That 66 is food influenced and he still dropped. Food influences the bg for two hours.

So now he's at .1 and he's mostly been in the green for 6-7 days prior to the .1 with a few low hanging numbers in blue. Again I don't want to rush anything and mess up and I will talk to his vet for advice but in your opinion how long should I hold this dose before trying a OTJ or am I completely off base and not really ready.

I’m glad to read this. I was worried. Let me see the ss. Be right back.

Get a +4 and see if he under 50 drops. I think he’s just about done. What do you think?

I missed the +4 part of your message darn it.
I've never gotten below 61 (I think) on a test but I hadn't been getting a lot of mid cycle test. I really want to believe he is.. just scared to set him back if wrong

The +6 is a safe number so he likely didn’t go too low. Tonight if around the same I would shoot the same dose. Then grab a +2 and go from there. You want to be sure he’s not going under 50. I won’t be home until later so if in doubt ask for advice. I will look in when I get bad from dinner and watching the Dodgers game.

Wow he had a 78 PMPS even with a stall it was still 78 so I'm afraid to shoot even the .1 but will if needed. He's eating right now and happy as ever.

Thank you. He's a steroid induced diabetic and it really looks like he's heading for remission. This group has literally given him the chance to see these awesome numbers.

If you are still following SLGS as per your signature, you wouldn't shoot that 78.

I guess I am. I was going to swap to TR but it almost seems he may be heading into remission without the change.

Based on his SS do you think he's ready for a trial OTJ or do you feel he needs more time. He's down to .1u but only got it this morning after a NS last night and again tonight.

I would try 0.1 units again in the morning. He’s come down the dosing scale so fast, there will be some depot from the larger doses still influencing the numbers. It takes 4-6 cycles for the larger depot to go away. Another option is the drop dose, where you push the plunger hard, put the syringe into the pen, then release the syringe pressure. That vacuums up a drop. I think he needs just a bit more time in healing numbers.

Sounds like a good plan because I certainly don't want to rush OTJ and it be short lived because I jumped the gun.
He's finished his 30 days of doxycycline and I just realized today is one month since his diagnosis (wow we've come a long way) so I need to put a call into his vet and see if she wants him to do another 30 days of doxycycline and let her know where he is on numbers and dosing. She's going to be so happy.
