1/7/25 Raven AMPS 234 +3 215 +4 167 +6 147 +8 128 PMPS 98 +2 139 +4 128

98 PMPS. Getting into a range where I‘m wondering if I should stick with this dose seeing how much he‘s dropped… I‘ve shot with lower PS numbers of course, but on a lower dose. He will be dropped off at the internist tomorrow at 7:30am so may not get as many opportinuities to eat in between. Any thoughts @Wendy&Neko? I know per protocol stick with it until I hit lower midcycle numbers…

Size of dose doesn't impact what you shoot as a preshot. What makes a difference is how much you can monitor. Since he was breaking a bounce today, he might go lower tonight. Or not. Try not feeding, and test 20 minutes later to see what his numbers are doing.

I didn’t see this and I did feed. Just measured after feeding and it’s 121. I‘m not sure how quickly food impacts BG.

I didn‘t want to delay any further since I have to drop him off early at vet tomorrow. I decided to shoot a decreased dose of 2.5. I realize this is not in line of protocol, but wanted to avoid a giant jump tomorrow since he‘s getting bloodwork done. But didn‘t quite feel confortable with the 3u dose with this preshot number. I will be able to test frequently until +5 and will leave his times feeder out for him to pad him in the early am hours if needed.

If numbers are bad csn of course also stay up longer snd test more.

Sorry I didn't get back in time. The carbs go from the plate to the blood stream in 20-30 minutes. I'd get a +1 and see how he's trending.

Raven‘s numbers seem to be fine/stable, but just had an odd episode where while using the litter box and pooping (the second time after he had just gone 10 mins earlier and both times leading to sizable ) he just suddenly sat back on top of his poop - perhaps like he was dizzy or lost strentgth in his back legs. When I pulled him up he could use his hind legs but didn‘t want to walk far.

Two things happened right before:
1. I gave him 30 ml of water through esophagus tube - maybe I gave them to quick because he was trying to move around to get to litter box (and he did have a heart murmor and ER/internist lowered IV intake b/c of that)
2. while administering the fluids he shook his head viloently (as he somethines has been doing during tube feedings) and he hit the syringe with the side of his head. No sharp edges but wondering if the inpact could have made him dizzy 1 minute or so later. Now he went back into his bed and seems fine albeit tired (but he is most of the day).

And for context, he is not hypoglycemic. I just tested him after this and he‘s at 145.

He is snoozing and seems fine. Going to sleep since I have to be up in 5 hours. But I left him sone food for later.

He was fine this morning and at 139 preshot. Sorry for the lack of updates @Tim & Pookey @cecile & bella. I had to drop him off at the internist for his follow up appointment very early and then had a busy work day. I‘m awaiting blood work results (and based on that more discussions on food), but they agreed that he looks and acts so much healthier (although he lost some weight - but he is still hefty). He was much more of the social butterfly he used to be at the vet and seemed quite happy afterwards.

I flagged the dizzispell and they said perhaps due to liquids or possibly inner ear infection (though without CT they did not derect anything). They advocated for placement of the freestyle libre for more data (which I agreed to - so he‘s got that on now). They asked me to stick with 2.5u dose until they tell me otherwise.

So I‘m going to follow that unless I start getting data that indicates otherwise and then I will flag for them.

I know this is not neccessarily in line with protocol followed here but I want to work with them to gather any data that may be helpful (although I‘m slightly annoyed with their lack of understanding of the human meter approach, which I did raise with them).
