@Bandit's Mom Hello! I am now back from my conference and ready to test him again. Hope everything has been well with you and on the forum.

I have updated his number from last night to tonight's PMPS. Since it has been consistently within 275 and 350, and it has been more than 10 days since last dosage change. I shot him 6.5 units tonight instead of 6.

Do you think I should consider swapping to Levemir? Should I test him for insulin anti body?

Thanks!
Hao

Welcome back!

Could you add "Traveling. No testing. On vacation dose" in the row for 10/20-10/25 so others looking at the SS would understand? Thanks :-)

I'm going to tag @Wendy&Neko for this, since she is our go-to person for Acro/IAA kitties.

I think Levemir is going to be discontinued in the US soon. Do you find that Lantus is stinging Mai?

We suggest that people test for both acromegaly (IGF-1 test) and insulin auto antibodies (IAA) once they get to 6 units, are on low carb wet or raw, and arrived at the dose safely. My Neko had both those conditions.

I much preferred Levemir, but it may be difficult to source now. It will soon no longer be available in the US, and you could get it from Marks Marine Pharmacy in Canada, but I'd have to ask them if they know for how long.

Thank you. And sorry for my delayed response. I had to take care a few things since I was away for the conference and it happened to be the end of the month.

It is a bummer that Levemir is getting discontinued. Do you think it might be worth it to look into Tresiba? That was the alternative mentioned in Levemir's discontinuing statement.

I don't think it stings him very often. He did twitch and tried to run away when I shot him PM on 10/27 but I find that is more correlated with the location I shoot.

Thank you for your response! I will get some testing arranged for him at my vet. Looking at his recent curves, do you think his BG resembles that of a Acromegaly cat?

And one more quick question: since he was diagnosed late last September and started getting Insulin by October, would IAA still be a concern since it's self-limiting and based on what I found on this forum, goes away after a year?
