3/30 Kit AMPS 241, +1 222, +2 111, +3 83, +5 93, +8 93, PMPS 162, +2 138

Oh Alicia :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:. I understand the frustration immensely.
So the drop is happening some time between +1 and +2. I might change when to give the 9%. Like maybe on the half hour mark instead of on the hour.

Cleo is really good at alerting to me a pending steep drop by meowing her head off . I've noticed when she's starting higher, the first couple of snacks she wants earlier than at the hour mark.

Big drop indeed, but then she nicely steadies out.
It almost looks like she just wants to get there in the green as fast as she possibly can!

I sometimes wonder if higher preshot BGs (which Mikan likes to have) reflect hepatic glucose production in response to fasting and once food intake happens, the liver withdraws the production leading to the sharp drop. In theory. But I don't know then what.

Curious how feeding at +1.5 might do!

Thanks - I'll start trying that. I really want to go back to 7 am/pm and I think that would make it easier, but I can't do that until after classes are done because I teach at 830 and want to have at least 2 hours post shot before I have to run out the door. Stoopid job.

Weirdly, Kit alerts me with meows when she's low. Otherwise she comes out to where we've been testing lately every hour on the hour for the first 3 or 4 hours. And then she comes out 30 minutes to an hour before her PM shot to see if she can convince me to feed her earlier.

Edit - I was just rereading - do mean adjusting to +0.5 so it has time to kick in, or to +1.5? I sort of presumed +0.5 so the food had more time to get into her system and get acting. But am now uncertain.

That's an interesting thought - I'll have to look more into it!
She's like her momma, things to do (naps), places to go (different nap spots), people to see (really just pets from me and Eric). I started life that way, and mostly continue (I was born in 45 minutes and came so fast I broke my mom's tailbone :blackeye:)

I think I remember reading somewhere that it should be right before onset. If she were my cat, and staring at her SS, I might try moving the +1 to +1.5. I would try that for a little bit to see if it helps to temper down the drop. Remember though that's her diabetes and she will drop if she wants, drops if she wants to, drops if she wants to...:p

I didn't get a chance to look, so I hedged my bets and did both. :joyful: Thus far doing both didn't seem to hurt (although I'll move it to +1.5, which is honestly better timing in the whole scheme of things). Onward to a new experiment!

I read/sang this to Eric and he thought it was pretty amusing (as did I). :joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful:
