I said goodbye to Moondance this morning. He never seemed to be in any pain, for which I am grateful; but whatever tumors were growing in his neck and jaw made it so he could no longer keep food and water in his mouth. He couldn’t clean his face and despised having me constantly wipe drool of his chin. It’s impossible to know, but I think he was ready to go.

Thank you to everyone here for helping me deal with the diabetes. His glucose numbers were looking beautiful, and with your help I expect I could have gotten him into remission. To everyone who is afraid that their cat will hate them for all the testing and shots, I think all the testing and treats over the last two months brought us even closer. To everyone here that gives their time and emotional energy to advise, support, or even just commiserate, know that you are absolutely saving lives by doing so. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sherri, I’m so sad to see it was your so handsome boy’s time to cross. He knows how well he was loved as evident by giving him this one last gift we always dread. Treating a seriously ill cat does bring us even closer I agree and makes this decision that much harder. A very kind vet told me that special bond would be the reason why I would have to make that timing decision. You are a superb cat mom. We cry with you. Thanks for sharing Moondance with us. My heart is heavy hearing it was time to say goodbye to your beautiful Moondance. Sherri, I am so sorry for your loss. You did the kind and loving thing by setting him free.cat_wings>oFly free Moondance. Have fun meeting your friends at the Rainbow Bridge :rb_icon:they are all waiting for you.

(((Sherri))) My deepest sympathy on your loss. :bighug::bighug::bighug: This is the hardest decision you ever had to make for Moondance, but you did it because of your love for him. Be kind to yourself the next little while. It's hard on you too, dealing with multiple conditions yet being so emotionally close.
 
Sherri I'm crying looking at pics of your beautiful boy Moondance. It's never easy to say good bye, I know. He is now playing with all his friends happy and healthy.

Thinking of you Sherri and family. Just wanted to say hello from me and Dolly and wish you all the best. If you decide to leave, which I totally understand, I was so glad to have met you and Moondance but sad for the circumstances. Take care. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
I'm so sorry to hear this! I know all too well the pain of having to make that choice against your own will knowing it's best for them. :(

I hope you find peace in the fact of knowing they didn't suffer, as you said they weren't in pain. I'm sure it'd only get tougher for you and him if it went further...

Sherri I am so sorry to hear about your baby Moondance. It is so hard to say goodbye, and you did everything you could to give him such a happy and healthy life. I hope those memories bring you comfort and peace in times to come.
 
Oh my gosh. I don’t even know how I missed this. I was just thinking of you and Moondance and I came here to check up on you. This makes me so sad. I’m so sorry you lost Moondance. What a beautiful boy he was.
 
I'm so sorry that you had to say goodbye to your beautiful ginger boy, Sherri. You gave him the most selfless gift, setting him free from his pain. You and he are in my thoughts:bighug::bighug::bighug:.
