I believe we're over the pancreatitis! No meds for 36-ish hours and he's acting like his old self. Will continue to keep an eye on him.

Any idea why his numbers came down so quickly? Perhaps the antibiotic injection cleared up an infection we didn't know he had? Or his pancreas has been inflamed this whole time, just not enough to be symptomatic?

I think he’s feeling better so his numbers reflect that. Chronic pancreatitis cones and goes. You caught it and medicated and this flare ended. Once I figured out Max his episodes were much shorter.

What antibiotic was given?

He's been high since last summer though, maybe combination of creeping up on breakthrough dose and the flare.

Convenia unfortunately, I didn't know it wasn't a good option until it was already given.

Yay for this update on Mr. Kitty! His numbers look beautiful :cat:

FWIW Jax has had Covenia too - I didn't realize some of the cons until afterwards; I just viewed it as a lesson learned so I ask for alternatives now. Everyone of course will make different decisions and we're all just doing the best with the information we have - my long winded way of saying I'm sure everything will be okay :bighug:

Max Al’s had Convenia a few times as my vet didn’t want to risk intestinal upset. I was nervous every time but he was okay. :bighug:
