He did eat. LC American Journey with Fortiflora mixed in. He has a feeding at 3:00-4 when everycat eats. I had to add a feeding
at 8:30 for his nightly shot. No dry food.

No, he's not hiding. He's sitting right here in front of me looking sleepy.

So he eats at 8:30am, sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 pm and once again at 8:30pm? How much food per meal?

About 1/4 cup. I cut down some due to him eating every hour or so. Especially the afternoon feed because at one point we thought
his BG was going higher due to that feed. He eats American Journey, FF and Friskies. All LC

Hi Patty,

How are yourself and the Bluebird doing today?

:bighug:

Hey Mogs,
We are both pretty good. Watching your favorite sport, football!!! Great games on today. :)

What's up with you? You and Bug doing okay? You haven't been around much and I was beginning to wonder if you
were under the weather...or Noodle?

Football schmootball. :p You'll never convert me. ;)

Glad to hear that you and Blue are doing OK. :)

((((Patty and Blue))))

I've got yet another cold (or maybe it's the same one that's waxing and waning and I just can't shake it off completely?). Having a problem with trying to get the Noodle's BP medication dose right. She was right down the far end of the normal BP range again yesterday and as a consequence she didn't eat enough, plus she got very tired. :( (((Noodle))). I've reduced her dose tonight. I hope she'll eat better this evening.

It was before he ate and +31 from last dose yesterday morning. :)
Sorry. Should have asked a clearer question. Would I be correct in understanding that Blue didn't eat anything after his breakfast, and that the +31 69 reading was about 7 hours after his breakfast?

Noodle needs to eat for her blood pressure meds to work?
It's kinda the other way round. If her BP goes into the lowest part of the normal range it negatively affects her appetite (meds working a bit too well).

Yes, 7 hours after he ate.

You do a good job of monitoring her Mogs. I'm sure you'll get her back on track. Are you still mixing the food in that she likes?

'fraid so, Patty. :(

Lúnasa did a bit of a backslide when I started trying to to transition her back to all renal food but I only got as far as 60:40 renal:gastro support and then she started refusing food again. Consequently I've had to revert to giving her the 50:50 mix again. (I'm worried that there's something in the renal diet that is irritating her digestive tract.) Thus far she seems to be doing OK on the Fortiflora, and other than yesterday's wobble she has been eating a bit more steadily since I started adding it to her grub (anti-jinx). Small victories...

Yep! Small victories is good. Is there an alternate renal food you could try?
I just started Blue and Brat on the Fortflora so hoping it works. Teddy needs to be on it but will not eat food with it mixed in.
Will be testing again shortly. Stay tuned.

I remember one time telling one of our vet nurses when I was picking up Saoirse that I was going to give her a bath when we got home (to help with a skin irritation). "Rather you than me," said the nurse, with a look of unbridled horror on her face. (Saoirse was a bit of a grump at the vets.) "It'll be no bother at all," says I with a big grin on my face, "it's really easy to bathe her." She stared at me in the same manner one might look at an escapee from a home for the bewildered.

The Noodle would be a different story altogether. I shudder at the mere thought of ever having to bathe her. I'd need to encase myself in Kevlar first - and even then I'm not sure I'd come away unscathed. :nailbiting:

Like most cats!
I've only bathed my cats a couple of times. I had to have help!
It's funny but when I adopted Blue and Layla they were being fostered by a lady working for a rescue group. She said they would both jump into the bath with her! I rarely take a bath so don't know if they would have kept that up. Highly unusual. I do think I could probably bath Blue if I had too but Layla not so much.

Patty,

If you don't hear anything back, I'd suggest you don't give insulin. If I was in this situation, I wouldn't.

Mogs
.

Oh no, Mogs. I know you must be worried. I don't know much about BP, especially in cats. You're amazing to be taking her BP and caring for her the way you do. I hope she'll eat for you tonight.
Come on Noodlebug!!!

She's got her fizzog stuck in a bowl of soup right now. I don't know where we'd be without that stuff because when she doesn't eat much she just won't touch her water bowl. At least the soup helps keep her hydrated. I've not diluted tonight's serving as much as usual in the hope that it will help her BP along somewhat.

The BP med (amlodipine) is tricky because it can take up to a week for the amount of the drug in the body to reach a steady state after a dose change - a bit like an insulin depot, I suppose - although I thought that, having successfully tweaked the dose occasionally in the past, halving the dose tonight would have had a bit more impact. Might skip the next dose altogether, depending on where she is later on.

Fizzog? New one on me but maybe it's like fur face?
I hope you're able to work it out. Yay she's eating the soup. At least she likes that, you’re smart to realize and utilize that. I buy a food topper from PureBites that has tons of juice in it. It's low carb but I'm not sure if it's something Noodle could have.

Blue has been feeling good today. He's still napping on a fleece. He probably needed the sleep after the last 2 nights that I have had to test him every half hour.

If her BP is low it might be wise to skip her dose, as you say. Low BP can make you feel jumpy too.

Fizzog is any face, furry or otherwise. :) (Definition here.)

Sorry for disappearing last night. Passed out (again). I awoke sitting up (again) and now have a nasty crick in my neck.

I'm so glad to hear that Blue felt so good yesterday. I hope by the time you read this you'll have both had a grand rest for yourselves.
