Gave her a few bites of Grilled turkey feast in gravy 13% @+4.5. Ate very little, not interested. Left down her lc. I know she is close to or at her nadir but she won’t eat lc and she sometimes has continued to go down after her nadir. Any advice?:bookworm:

Sorry nobody was around sooner!:bighug: Assuming you're home, with that 66 @+5, I'd have withheld food and checked her again at +5.5. At this point, let's see what your +6 is and then go from there.

Squinting at that 200 AMPS from where I am in Canada...It looks blue to me.

Thanks. She's at the same 66 @+5.75. It looked blue to me as well.:) Not interested in eating so I am going to leave her alone a bit. I don't think, I hope, she is done dropping for the time being. Yesterday was a very long day. I'm surprised she's not hiding from me. Once again her treats trump her pokes. She is such a trooper.:cat: She ate pretty well this morning.
Thanks for checking on her. She hasn't eaten anything since 4.5 and that was just a few bites.

Nice surfing, Dolly!:D
I saw your SS...yesterday was quite the day.:) You both did great! Funny how the cats are willing to put up with all those pokes to get those treats. Butters will magically appear as soon as she hears me pop open the container of test strips.:cat:

I hope Butters is feeling better. A lot to deal with, you are definitely a dedicated mom. I looked at your spreadsheet and wonder when you sleep. I am exhausted all of the time and I don’t test nearly as much. It must get scary with Butters health issues. I need to be a lot more grateful, I’ve had the scares but usually for nothing. Lyla, I truly wish you lots more purrs and lap time. I hope you are okay with me checking Butters spreadsheet. Hoping Butters gets better. Thanks for being here for me.

Awww. Thank you, Adrienne! That means a lot. Of course, check out her ss anytime. I look at a lot of kitties' spreadsheets regularly :). When I look at Dolly's, I see a very devoted (and exhausted) mama. You're truly doing an amazing job with her. No two kitties are exactly alike, but they all give us health scares and managing their diabetes has us all perpetually exhausted.:)

I need to leave for about 45 minutes. Is it safe to leave Dolly? I know 70 is a great number but Dolly is new to consistently having low numbers all day. Honestly, forgive me if I am not making sense, she's not at 50. I talk to myself a lot here, better than keeping it all in my head and I get to see how I over worry about everything.o_O

I have to leave. She just seems so lethargic. Bhooma told me it could be due to her heading towards a reduction soon, 3 - 40-50’s. Not to worry.

Sorry nobody responded...and I had left to eat some dinner. :) She is still flat. It *looks* like she'd keep surfing. But the thing is, nobody can say for sure. With a 70 and mostly flat numbers prior to that, I'd likely test again an hour later, so you'll be back by then assuming you left right after that test.

But that doesn't address her lethargy. Is she eating okay? Does she seem to be in any pain or have any other symptoms?

Remember also that you can be in control of Dolly's numbers. If she reliably will eat and you need to leave, you can leave out MC or HC food for her. If she won't reliably eat while you are out, then coax her to eat some higher carb food before you leave and leave some out. Most of the time, cats will seek out food if they drop low.

:)
I talk to myself and to Butters in my threads also.:)
I’ve been back a little while, didn’t see any alerts on FD found your posts when I opened my email. Dolly is eating and I set up a second litter box with crystals, never tried before. Dolly has chronic sinusitis and I get her 100% dust free litter. Lately every box, every type, of dust free Arm and Hammer litter has been full of dust. She’s been sneezing like crazy and congestion worse than ever. I hope the crystals work. Of course she hates change, she’s a cat. :cat: Breaks my heart to hear her either stuffed up or full of bubbling mucous. Thanks again for watching out for us. :)

No pain that I can see but they don’t usually show pain. She’s finally eating, almost fasting time. I talk to her about this every day, I tell her she’s going to be very hungry for those 2 hours so she better eat a snack. :D

It took me longer than expected because the stores are out of so much cat food and litter. Had to go to 2 different stores and they were so busy.

I've never tried crystals, either. I hope that works. I use Okocat, which is a wood pulp pellet litter....and I keep a dust buster next to the LB because dust is my kryptonite:(. Butters, on the other hand, is just fine with it.

When you have time for some reading, check out this post on Feline Pain Scale.
The Feline Grimace Scale really helped me start to recognize signs of pain in Butters. They do show pain, it's just not in ways that are easily recognizable until you know what they are. If Dolly shows signs of lethargy and not eating, it wouldn't hurt to learn how to recognize pain just in case there might be more going on. I'm not saying there is more going on. It's just good information.

And yay for eating! Lol. I'm glad the talk worked today. :)

Thanks so much. I have so much to do and as I am aging everything takes me soooo much longer. I am exhausted and tomorrow my great grandson is coming to spend the day. 8 years old and full of energy. He (and our brand new 4 wk old great grandson), are the only family members we will see and it’s not very often. We have been isolated for two years plus due to my husbands health problems, auto immune etc. What I am trying to say is it’s a special and rare time for us and I wish I wasn’t so exhausted. So I will read ASAP. I did look at the chart. Thanks again. I am watching her for “any” signs of her not feeling good. Try not to chit chat but I fail sometimes.

Also a priority: making sure that you occasionally take care of yourself, including getting some rest. I’ve fed higher carb food on rare occasions at night when I just knew I could not stay up to test. Butters numbers weren’t great but they got back on track quick. That was before all her illnesses. Others may disagree with me, but running yourself to the point of exhaustion isn’t good. Hang in there. And have a lovely time with your great grandchildren.:D

Thanks Lyla. Sometimes I just worry I will get sick and Dolly and my husband depend on me. Just very tired and want to enjoy tomorrow. I need some normal sleep where I am not worried about everything. Life is so strange right now. You and Butters have a good night. I appreciate all of your help today.

Dolly is due for her shot in 34 minutes. She just seems strange. Wants to be left alone. She’s in her bed, but with us in the living room. I feel scared and I’m not sure what I am picking up from Dolly. Too quiet. I gave her a few treats, freeze dried chicken, just to see if she would eat, she did. I am anxious for her to be tested and have dinner. Patience is not my strong suit. I will post if things are not right.

Thanks. You too. I'm going to bed soon. I hope she's okay.:bighug: Don't hesitate to edit your title to call attention to your thread to get others to help you (you can delete the numbers in your title and edit so just your PMPS # is in there...along with a message of "need help..." or something), or try to "@" people you see online.

Sleep well. Thank you so much.

Dolly's numbers are up. She won't eat, very sluggish, worried. I believe part of it is her sinuses. She try's to smell her food but then walks away. I'll see if I have something fishy. Why would her numbers go up - it's a bounce, right?

Do you think she is just holding out for higher carb food? Has she been pooping okay? No motility issues?

Elise, you mean +3?

Is it safe to just do the usual, leave out her lc? I put near my bed at night and put fresh hopefully when I wake up around 2am-usually. Most nights she doesn't eat.

She nearly killed me but just did a major zoomie after the litter box. Maybe a bellyache. I haven't seen a zoomie in weeks. Maybe more  She could drop possibly a lot? I need sleep but with peace of mind.

can I safely go to bed? I really am sorry I had to bother you two. i know you have lives besides me and Dolly :D Maybe it was just a nasty bellyache.

:banghead:
I think she will be okay. And like I said, some of the mood and appetite fluctuations have to do with sugar levels. Get some sleep! :)
Not past my bedtime but I turned off the iPad. I’m trying to not be on after 10 unless I’m helping someone to see if it helps my insomnia. I agree with what Bhooma said.
:bighug::bighug::bighug:Thanks Elise. Good luck with the insomnia. Take care and stay a hermit, stay safe.
