Hi everyone! We’re back! It’s been about a week since Kittens OTJ party and she’s doing ok. No Diabetes type symptoms like what she had before and during treatment but she’s been having other issues off and on. I made a vet appointment for her last week but she started acting normal again so I canceled it. She was really lethargic for a couple of days and then she’s been just randomly limping. Today my husband called me and told me she was walking and she just tripped an fell. Now I’m home and can see she’s walking really weird. Like she’s walking on her “tip toes” and taking really small dainty steps. She’s also really easy to push over. She will fall over just from getting pet. I know nerve damage and mobility issues can happen from prolonged diabetes but I wouldn’t think her symptoms would get worse after not being on insulin for over 3 weeks, I would think they would stay the same or improve. I’m calling my vet in the morning but was curious if any of you knew of any diabetic induced disorders that can happen or similar things that may have happened to your cats. I’m freaking out a little bit. :nailbiting:

Hi Jenifer - so sorry Kitten Cat is not feeling well. Did she have any of these symptoms when she was dx with diabetes? Maybe start a post over on Feline Health to get input?

Also I'm not sure if she's suffering from nerve damage from diabetes - but, if she is, then neuropathy caused by diabetes can be improved with Methylcobalamin B12 (+ some folic acid for absorption). I use Zobaline but some people buy Methylcobalamin B12 and folic acid separately to save money.

Hope you can get some answers :bighug:

Thanks! I thought about posting in feline health first but wasn’t sure if maybe this was something that happened with cats in remission so I posted here. Ugh! She did not have these symptoms when diagnosed. I knew she had some mild nerve damage but it didn’t seem to cause her pain and was just going to keep an eye on it and watch for changes and then this happened. I wouldn’t think that nerve damage would worsen once a cat is leveled out or in remission so that’s why this has me so dang worried.

Her bg was normal last night. Checking again now before I leave for work. I’m going to try and get a drop off appointment with my vet today and hopefully get some answers. After I posted last night, kitten got scared by the vacuum and tried to take off running and couldn’t go! I thought she was paralyzed in her back end! But she was able to get her feet under her and finally take off but it was a weird wobble walk/run :arghh:

How scary. I don’t think this is from diabetes but of course I’m not a vet. I would push for that drop off appointment. Keep us posted. :bighug:

Thanks guys. No definitive answers today unfortunately. The vet had the two same ideas I had which is diabetic neuropathy or blood clots. (Saddle thrombus) But neither of those really add up since she should’ve been getting better since being regulated, not worse and she doesn’t have any of the underlying conditions that cause clots. So, waiting on bloodwork. Should be back in the morning and will hopefully shed some light on the problem......

i will have to look around and see. We have a veterinary college close and that's where a lot of the specialty stuff is located. I'm guessing it will probably be there.
