MIMI AMPS 106 - PMPS 516 - +2 605 HELP

Just tested her prior to her shot and she is at 106. We are going to feed her now and retest, but such a low AMPS. not sure what to do? Reduce to .25?

Whenever you get a number that you suspect is too low to shoot, one option is to NOT FEED your kitty and stall for 15 - 20 min and re-test. Repeat the process to see if numbers are coming up. You don't want food to influence the number since you'll see a food spike.

Right now, Mimi is playing with your head. If you go back to what I posted in your previous thread, you'll get a sense of what I mean by that statement. I also don't think you made a mistake by lowering the dose to 0.25u. You were having to skip shots routinely with the 0.5u dose. Lantus works best if you shoot twice a day and lowering the dose is the way to do that.

Given Mimi's history, the ketone issue looms large. Have you been testing her ketone levels religiously and if so, how have they been? (I'm assuming from the recent note on your SS that they have been consistently absent.)

Have you decided which approach to dosing you want to follow. If Mimi is on a strictly canned food diet, you are testing enough to follow TR. If not, SLGS is your only option.

How far off of your shot schedule can you afford to be?

Thank you Sienne. We fed her as she was hungry as with her history of refusing wet food and force feeding, we took the opportunity so we could give her the 0.25 shot so it went from 106 to 136. I will recheck her at +1 and then at +4 and +6 as usual.
We took two weeks off work to take care of her but unfortunately we can't afford to stay home, so we need to bring her to a reasonable 7am to 7pm schedule in the next few days. Right now she is on 9am to 9pm.

I would test a bit more aggressively. The 136 may be a food spike. I'd re-test at +2 just to make sure the 236 isn't a food spike.

Re. shot times, you can move shots 30 min per day or 15 min per shot. An early shot acts like a dose increase. If Mimi bounces, you may be able to move the shot an hour earlier today.

We just tested her and her +1 is 286. I guess because of the food we gave her? If she bounces, I will give her a .25 at 8pm. Thanks so much!!
I wish I had read your reply before we fed her, but will know for next time and we will monitor her closely.

My hunch is that it's not a food spike -- unless you gave HC food.

No worries. Most people don't realize they should hold off on feeding if they're stalling. No worries. As you said, you'll know for next time.

I am going to feed her and giver her her .25 shot even if it is half hour early. Haven't managed to test her ketones today, but she ate well and had a good day. I didn't think i would go up so high again after a mellow yellow day... :(

I gave her her shot 0.25 and her numbers are going higher! I don't know what to do. Can I giver her another .25?
I was not able to test her kitones today and she has a recent history of high ketones.
What can I do? It is 11pm here

Don't give her more insulin tonight. This looks like a bounce from last night's green. Try to get a ketone test when you can; meanwhile, it's good that she ate well today and has been feeling good.
