Today's vet visit
She's surprised at the high dose and increasing so quickly and how Lantus needs more time between increases. She did tell me about a big drop when the insulin does decide to work.
His weight went up to 11.6 pounds
Dehydrated, recieved sub-q fluids
Belly large and firm x - ray showed full colon, constipated. Miralax for that
Liver enlarged but no change from last year's
ultrasound.
I hope these constant highs aren't starting to take a toll on him!!
Blood goes out Monday because it has to be frozen and can't sit over the weekend.
I'll hear next week.

Well if insulin resistant, when it breaks through glucoses can race down rapidly, you will need to be on your toes and hang on for the ride.

If acro, I don't know if that's to much of a concern unless you are doing one of the treatments. I guess it is possible.

Olive had a bloated hard abdomen and she was very uncomfortable. It's what made me do the ultrasound right away and not wait 3 months the vet wanted. It's when her abd mass was discovered and ascites. No acro dx yet. Both those are resolved but she has a solid middle and heavy middle. Acros gain weight easily. It affects all organs and systems.

I did miralax at night and pumpkin during the day, everyday, it worked well for quite some time. Now it's lactulose and cisipride.

one thing at a time. Have to wait for results.

Good luck with the test results. Will be keeping good thoughts for you. But, as Marje said, there is so much good info here for the high dose conditions.

If you want to give him two more cycles, you can but don’t let him stay at the current dose more than six cycles total. Your vet has shown in the past that they don’t understand how the insulin works and I’m sure they’ve not dealt with potentially high dose cats.

Here is the SS of a high dose kitty where the dose was increased in the same way we are doing Biscuits.

You hold the syringe. At some point, we need to take six cycles between increases. It Wendy and I discussed that it was better to wait u til we at least see pink. OTOH, he’s been high a long time so two more cycles for a goal of six at this dose is not the end of the world.

We (Marje, Wendy and I) dosed Olive the same way till we got the numbers to move. Grant you Olive wasn't "hi" but stuck in the mid pinks to high reds. Not moving at all. Of course I wanted improvement and now!!!! Since I was home full time and experienced we revved up the dosing. I think we did it quite a while to.

Hang in there, listen to Marje and Wendy. Follow their advice.

Thank you. I'm so afraid of a crash or missing it and having a crisis! I truly appreciate everyone's experience at this.

I looked at the SS. Sure looks like Biscuits'. I'm wondering why the increase after the numbers came down. I noticed only a few very lows.
