I do. I'll do the test now. Thank you.Infection is a sure why to increase numbers.
Do you have any keytone strips to test his urine for keytones? If you get anything above trace I would call your vet.
I'm happy to say the test was negative. Must be the tooth.Infection is a sure why to increase numbers.

Infection and pain can raise numbers.I don't know why he's so high unless his bad tooth is infected and it's throwing off his numbers. Could that be a possibility? I have an appointment on Friday.
I thought my spreadsheet was viewable. I'm still doing something wrong. He has had 600 before but lately he's had a lot. His numbers run high. The lowest was 216 and that was 2 weeks ago. I have no kibble in my house. He has been sluggish, not his usual self. Sometimes not eating which is not him at all. Not fully cleaning himself. I have to assume it's his tooth. The vet knew about his tooth last week but he apparently didn't think it was too important because the cleaning was scheduled for 14 days later, on Feb 26. I called another vet and Nosium has an appointment on Friday just to look at the tooth and see if it's infected. I feel bad it's taking so long just to fix a tooth.Infection and pain can raise numbers.
I can't see the ss. Are these numbers unusual for him?
Any chance he got into regular kibble? George once got into the stray cats kibble and it had a similar effect on his numbers.
How is he behaving? eating?any other signs/symptoms other than the raised BG?
Ketone test is a good idea.
Okay thank you so much. By the way, I had a cat named George. I love the name.Yes good idea to see if you can get it done sooner, if he has an infection he might have to have AB beforehand anyways. At least that's what my vet did when my George had bad teeth last year. When George had bad teeth (had a lot of teeth removed) he was in pain with them and the only way I could get him to eat was to puree his food into a baby food consistency, he could lap it up without using his teeth so I had some success with it, I also had to spoon feed him, he would eat better licking it of the spoon than of the bowl.
With the symptoms you are mentioning, the high BG, inappetence, lethargy, and possible infection I really think you should be monitoring ketones daily at the very least.
His full name is George Orwell, we decided to name him after an author after he spent his first day with us hiding amongst our books on the bookshelf.Okay thank you so much. By the way, I had a cat named George. I love the name.![]()
yes Chris & China helped me again, thank you.Traceylee, Chris & China was going to help you with the spreadsheet, did you read and respond to her PM (conversation?) You can locate the Conversation area at the left top of any page, where the tabs are Home, Forums and Conversations (PM). Getting used to the board format can be a little confusing at first.
