I figured Maverick might be breaking his bounce from the 43 a few nights ago...sure enough. Managed to keep him above 50, I guess he's still got a bit of the 1.5u power behind him.

@Christie & Maverick - I second thinking about Lev. Not all cats go flatter, but a large number of them do. Price in Canada is just a few bucks more than Lantus.

Thanks, Wendy, I'll see about having a conversation with my vet, it may be worth a try.

:bighug::bighug::bighug:So good to see you Christie!!! Weird, I don’t see your signature (with SS ) either.
Sounds like Mav is good. If you’re considering a switch to Lev I think its a great idea. It really seems to flatten out most. Hope all is well with you!!
Happy Spring:cool:

Hi Michelle! I think I've fixed my signature, I had been updating it a while ago, I had a few windows open at the time, must not have been paying attention and didn't save properly. Mav is good, I'm just feeling a bit discouraged, I can't really seem to do anything right, I steered him away from dropping too low a few times, but didn't quite catch him the last time. He's getting close to being a long term diabetic, I suppose I should be happy his numbers are better than we started. I'll see about Lev, I guess I'm a bit worried about making the change, it would be a whole new learning process, but if it might help him stay in greens longer, I'd like to consider it.

Hi Christie. If it makes you feel any better, my biggest concern about the switch was the fear of the unknown. I admit I felt like a newbie for a bit as I had to learn new patterns. Then I started kicking myself for not making the switch sooner. I was a bad child and didn't ask my vet's permission to switch, since we don't need a prescription anyway in Canada. Plus, as in most things Neko, the vet was leaning from us (first client to home test, first on TR, she had hardly any kitties on Lantus, first acro, first IAA, ...). You get the picture.

Thank you for letting me Mav stalk again. ;)

Lol, feel free to peek in on Mav's SS any time :p. Well that is interesting, I assumed I needed a first prescription from the vet, then I could refill without (which I have done with Lantus). We are getting down to the bottom third of his Lantus vial, I'll ask my pharmacist about Levemir.

You are so right, it's fear of the unknown. And, I had been hopeful with things, since I managed a decent range for most of the last 6 weeks, and likely had a few good days under renal threshold, but is that good enough? I don't think I missed an opportunity to increase, he was getting low enough, I just couldn't keep him steady, even the lower blues sometimes don't last.

Hi Christie! I think it would be really interesting to see what Mav does on Levemir. It made a HUGE difference for Girlie, at least. No more deep dives at +1 or +2 and steady, good numbers. Mav and Girlie were diagnosed the same time - July 2017. I know some of the other cats who've switched to Lev didn't necessarily see an enormous change, but Girlie is just a happier cat on Levemir. I'm here to support you whatever you decide! Good luck! :bighug:

Totally understandable. For us it was easier to make the decision because Beenie wasn't bouncy it was like I was shooting water into her:blackeye:. She just stayed high so it was a no brainer for me. You have a perfectly good handle on how this FD dance works so you would be just fine.;)
Still blows my mind what the switch did for @Girlie's mom ! :woot:

Love seeing Mav's face:bighug:
