Summer was green all night except two blues starting out. She has been green all morning. No sleep again. :banghead:;):coffee:
 
Summer is going low and the fancy feast gravy lovers seems to not be holding her for very long and i am adding honey too. Is the gravy lovers a Mc? What is a Hc food i can try when she goes this low? I use the prime relion meter and i just checked her and it read 36 and i checked her on my confirm that is my backup just out of curiousity and she read 22!!! I just gave her more gravy lovers and honey. Help!!

How much do i need to be giving her of HC? I have been giving her anywhere from 1-2 teaspoons with a couple drops of honey. It just seems last night and today the gravy and honey is not holding her for very long. She has me worried!
 
Summer has come up to 66 for now. I live 30 mins. away from vet and they soon will close but we do have a emergency vet i can take her too if needed. So is this the highest in carb food? The ff gravy lovers because it is just not holding her very long
 
Phew on that 66! I would retest her in about 30 minutes - but don't feed her again just yet.

What you're giving her is perfect. You don't want to overfeed her because - for one - you need her to stay a little hungry so she'll eat later in the cycle if she needs to; and - for another - you don't want her "scarfing and barfing."

I've reached out to some of the high dose folks and hopefully they'll be along to give you guidance on dosing thoughts. Obviously Summer earned a reduction, but since I'm not familiar with high dose reductions, I'm not sure what her next dose should be.

She probably needs more than a couple drops of honey. The standard amount I use for Asia is .6mL and I guess that is closer to 6 drops? Having such a large depot and high dose condition, I can only assume you might need bigger guns. I would try more honey next time. Glad Summer has come up a bit for you.

Yeah thats what i thought too so this last hc i gave i put around 5-6 drops of honey. When exactly should i start giving her hc so she doesn't go so low? I have been waiting until she is under 50. Is that correct?
 
Also, I use Karo syrup instead of honey, for Asia, I didn't have much luck with honey giving her much of a boost. ECID.

You're doing great, sorry she's been keeping you so busy, I hope you can get some sleep soon. :bighug:

I have karo so i will try that. Am i right on waiting until she is under 50 to give the HC or do i need to give sooner so she wont drop so low?

Under 50 is when action is required, however, if you know her patterns and when in the cycle she is likely to continue dropping further, you can certainly try to head off the lime green by acting before the below 50. I've given Karo in the 80s before, but it was a big drop or early in the cycle and I knew Asia could go down fast. It really depends on the cat, the numbers, and where in the cycle. I've had 50s late in the cycle and just let her be and she's come up on her own.

Ugh! This is so nerve racking!! Thank you for your help! Can someone tag Wendy & Neko? I am needing advice on PMPS. I dont know what to do.

She definitely earned a reduction, but I'm not familiar with high dose situations, so I've asked some high dose folks (including @Wendy&Neko )to check in and suggest how your proceed. Hopefully they'll be along shortly.

If everyone is tied up, though, my initial inclination is to agree with @Mandy & Rex and skip tonight. But let's see if some high does folks are able to stop by.

You can delete some of the earlier numbers so folks can see the later numbers. You can also take the 911 off for now, too.

I do have to go get dinner going soon here, but I'll keep checking back, and hopefully the high dose folks will be along shortly to help out with ideas for tonight.

That's great, how long ago did you last give HC or honey? It can wear off and they go back down, but you are at the point in your cycle where Summer typically starts to rise anyway, so hopefully you will be good. Last thing to note is Summer sometimes comes down again at PMPS, could be a double dip thing with Lantus, but just something to look out for.
 
I think Summer has been angling for a reduction. To me, the big question is whether you want to do what you did on 2/23 and cut the dose in order to drain the depot a bit. Given that you mentioned that you are operating on no sleep, you can always skip the shot tonight.

I'll be curious what some of the acro moms have to say. If it were me, I'd be inclined to skip and shoot 8u (certainly not more than 9u) tomorrow.

It was like 4oclock when i last gave honey and hc.

How often can you cut shot in half to drain the depot?? If i skip the shot, what happens? And she is on 10 units right now. I can go down 8 units? OMG, this is so confusing.

I don't know what time zone you are in, what + number in your SS is that?

I think you drain the depot when it needs to be done. If you skip because you need rest, you will see what happens if you get a before bed test and your AMPS tomorrow. I don't think it will be the end of the world. The depot should keep her from going too high if she goes very high at all. How long until your PMPS? Hope others chime in.
 
Summer is already going back down @ +10.25 which was at 5:15 eastern time. I last gave her HC and honey @ +8.75 which was almost 4pm eastern time. She is not holding with the honey so i will try karo next time. Thank God i have some! I have molasses opened. Has anyone ever used Molasses?

I am eastern time zone It is 5:30 here right now. I just dont know what to do about her PMPS and it is soon. At 7pm. It is 5:30 now.
 
I don't feel comfortable giving dosing advise yet, but when Phoebe did that I would give her about a 1/3 of the dose so we could sleep and feel safe. But of course kept testing thru the night mostly. I'm a testaholic. At least until her normal nadir. But ECID. Take some deep breaths. @Wendy&Neko always gave me sound advise. "Shoot low to stay low". I have learned giving her some was better than none at all, if I had supplies and could monitor. Big hugs and head bumps
 
Wendy tends to show up much later , she's on the West Coast up in British Columbia.... so unless she just happens to pop on, she won't see the tag for a few more hours....

imho, I would drain that depot and shoot the 5 units.... and get back on track tomorrow .... Wendy can tell you what to dose tomorrow morning.

You need to take care of yourself too.

I'm sure molasses works just fine, if not a bit messy. How much did you give her? 68 isn't very low and it's towards the end of the cycle so I don't think you need to be heavy handed about it.

So at Pmps which is coming up at 7 pm eastern time, your saying to shoot 5 units at shot time?? Then would i give a reduction at AMPS like down 1 whole unit?

Nothing will happen if you skip a shot. She'll get back on track in no time.
I saw Summer's spreadsheet. YOU need a break and she could use a pokey break... skip, drain the depot, and try to get a good night's sleep tonight. I'm sure @Wendy&Neko will weigh in yet tonight about dosing for tomorrow.

Take it from one who did this for years and skipped shots on occasion due to physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion.

I havn't given her any molasses or karo yet. I haven't given honey or hc since about 4oclock eastern time. It is 5:45 pm here now.

So no shot at all? Just curious, what would happen if i cut dose in half? Would it not drain the depot enough? I just cut her dose on 2/23. How often can this be done? Just when it needs it like in this situation?
 
You've been at this for several nights now. Get some sleep is my recommendation. You need to take care of you to take care of Summer (and the others). The reductions seem to be coming closer together right now, which is why I suggested really making sure the larger depot is gone by skipping. It is possible a half dose would still result in an active cycle too. Or not. I just didn't want to take the chance.

Thank you Wendy! I really appreciate it. I am on pins and needles right now with Summer! Yes hopefully i can get some sleep. I guess we will see. Thanks again!!! :bighug:

Yes for sure! I will still be testing through the night at times. Hopefully she will settle down. She was just 86 45 mins after the 39. Hoping she stays up a bit. Thanks Wendy for checking on Summer.
 
Paws crossed she keeps trending up. If she does keep on going up, and you haven't fed HC, you should be able to get more sleep because of the skip.
