I'm doing a curve tonight. We are going on +7, and Pepper's still dropping. I'm getting a little nervous. Any one awake that can hold my hand for a bit?

Hi :bighug: so pepper likes to surf while you sleep! How much longer are you staying up? Right now you're quite safe. But you do need to keep monitoring.

Okey dokey. How many minutes to next test? Are you giving her regular lc so you can see what she's really doing at night? Or have you carb steered at all?

We experienced a bounce this afternoon, so I thought it would be a good idea to do a curve. She seems to have a stubborn pancreas.

Ok. Have you done this before? I mean having a FD? You talk like a veteran. Lol
Nope. But i care fur mom and she is diabetic. I've had a kitty with renal failure. My dad was a doctor. Fd was Greek but you catch on quick when someone you love needs your help. As you well know, doing tests at 240am your time! Thanks I still very much consider myself a newbie!

I'm glad you had help last night and you did really well! :) It would be useful for you in case it happens again to keep a record on your SS of how much food intervention you had to do - what food, what amount, when.

I suggest you hold that 1.5 u dose again today and try for a couple of BG tests between +5 and +7. This is to get a baseline as I mentioned in my post yesterday when you tagged me.

I didn't do food intervention. She was hungry at 1245, so I fed her. She took a couple bites and did not eat again until 6am this morning. Am I feeding her wrong? I was told to feed her when she's hungry in between her regular meals of 6am, 10 am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm.

If no food intervention those numbers are good. Follow her lead for feeding. You don't have to force food on her between her meal times. I see her yellow at +6 and that's fine. Stay with that dose for a few more cycles to build up reference data for the next dosing decision. The goal is to see if she'll stabilize more with consistent dosing. :)

@Kris & Teasel

What do I do about tonight? She's at 289 now and ready for her shot in 15 mins. Knowing she went from 400's to 144 last night at 1.5u. This is where the fear creeps over knowing how she drops and surfs at night. Please help me to understand.

Can someone please explain this question to me? Her shot is due now.

Has your vet ever given you insight and say “Don’t dose if reading is below ‘this?’” I think it’s a judgement call. If you’re able to stay and monitor again maybe yes. If you can’t then probably not. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful

The vet told me not to shoot under 200. It just literally makes me ill knowing I can make her go into hypo with shooting a full dose with numbers below 300.

I'm sorry, I really don't know anything about Prozinc. If I had to guess, I'd say those high numbers last night were a bounce, and one of the reasons she went so low was that she cleared that bounce. It looks like she bounced again this morning and is clearing that bounce, as well.

Don't panic. As long as you are there and are monitoring, you can keep her safe. Can you stay up as long as necessary tonight and monitor? Do you have plenty of testing supplies and HC?
