Hello FDMB! First post - So glad this site exists..

Mēr (8 year old Turkish Angora) has been OTJ since 7/16/17 (last shot of 0.5u given).
His numbers have been steadily hovering in the mid nineties since. As a result we became less concerned with regular testing & more concerned with attitude/behavior. Last night we tested him anyway and were surprised to get a 239, then 274 this morning (last time we tested on 11/2 he was at 85).

I’m wondering if/how colder weather might impact his #s. Also - if someone could expand on how dental issues could be contributing (other than stress/pain). His breath has been more pungent of late, since he’s wet food only now.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :bookworm::coffee:

Hi Tayt, welcome! You’ll get more answers if you post your question in the Main Health Forum. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/forums/feline-health-the-main-forum.28/
I’m not sure if the weather would impact numbers that much unless it’s causing Mēr a lot of stress. As for dental issues since a bad tooth or gingivitis can cause pain and inflammation, it could easily raise the BG numbers.

dental issues can throw a cat out of remission. I think that's what contributed to my cat coming out of remission a few months ago. If you think there's an issue with the teeth, get them checked out as soon as possible. Colder weather never affected my cat's bg, but she did have higher numbers when it was hot.
