My bouncing Millie continues.... After a bg 89 on 4/6 my post DKA bouncing Millie continues to stay high on her bg numbers. PMPS 615/ +7 411; AMPS 511/ +1 356. I know she's come down to the 300s, she did that yesterday before going to 500s & 600s. Question is as a post DKA do I hold the current dose of 1.25? I'm trying to get a sense of when to hold or change but I'm not secure enough in doing that. I also know there are many factors to consider with a post DKA kitty.

Appetite is good, ketones remain negative, she seems fine albeit tired of all the pokes.

yes you need to hold the dose . You may even want to consider an increase by 0.25u.

With ketone possibilities, it's very important to get enough insulin.

Is she being treated for any infections?

sorry that this one has slipped down unnoticed today.....

Do bump up your post whenever you're not getting your questions answered. I've been on the board for a couple of hours and haven't even gotten below the first 10 posts. Just lots of questions there - and it's totally fine to bump things up when you need an answer.

I agree with Rhiannon. Don't reduce the dose. I agree that you probably need to increase the dose by 0.25u as well, but today is the 3rd day since the last green, and I wouldn't increase the dose tonight only because if she IS clearing a bounce tonight, giving a dose increase at the same time can really cause a lot of momentum. Sometimes kitty's blood sugar will drop very quickly when the bounce clearing + a dose increase happen together.

However, if you are able to test enough to be confident tonight that there isn't any see green by morning, I'd probably increase the dose at her am shot.

No infections. This bouncing is very typical for her.

We kept the dose.

I'm not sure how to bump up a post. I just assumed it was Sunday and folks were busy and that's why I didn't get any replies.

Just type a reply, like you just did. That moved this thread to the top of the list on the main Lantus/Levemir group page.

Some people just say "bump" and that means that they are trying to "bump" their post up to the top. Other's say "still need help" or something like that.

OK, thanks. At least she's in the 'blue' now.
