Peepee is back from the vetty.He believes her eye condition is Keratitis. He wants us to wait to see if it grows any and not treat it as yet. I don't know. It may be because her immune system is weak..We go back in a week for check up. He didn't want to treat with steroids. If we don't get satisfaction from this we may have to go to ophthalmologist which means flying to Honolulu.Well at least it is a very small white patch on her eye.The good news is (you may not think so) is she has a UTI. Maybe that will explain her higher numbers lately. Starting AB today. Will find out in a couple of days after culture if this AB will work. It would be nice if her eye cleared up after UTI is gone.We have no specialists here, no 24 ER, you would be lucky if one of the dr's answered there phone in an emergency. We called for an emergency one night and the dr. didn't call back for 6 hours!

Hi, Doreen, I'm sorry to hear that Peepee has a UTI. I hope the ABs do the trick and clear it up. I also hope her eye gets better so she doesn't have to go on an airplane ride.

What AB is Peepee on? If your kitty is prone to developing diarrhea from ABs, you might want to start a probiotic.

I hope the eye issue resolves itself.

Hi Sienne, Peepee is on Veraflox. She has had this before without any problem at all. I hope it does the trick. She can't take
Clavamox, Amoxicillin or Biomox. She has projectile pukus with those. One dose and she won't eat for 3 days and throws up force feeding. Kinda hard to shoot in those circumstances. This new one is a miracle drug for her if it works on her UTI.
 
Well, I was so happy to find an AB that Peepee could tolerate, I didn't even think of the sugar content. The last time she took it was in her first days of Prozinc. I just thought she was unregulated. I'm gonna post on Health for another AB suggestion. I do have
Clavomox tabs and amoxicillin tabs I could probably use for her UTI. Her sugar should have come in around 100 at pmps. Darn

Yikes! That sure isn't a PeePee type number. Some people have used Orbax for UTI, but it really depends on the results of the culture and sensitivity. Good luck getting an AB that works. At least you get to sleep tonight.
 
Ouch. They don't make it in a pill? I hope Peepee feels better soon!

That has to be really hard to not have an ER. I hope you don't have to take her to Honlulu about the keratitis.

Thanks, Wendy and Marje. I'm gonna call in the am and see what he says. From what little research I did for the tablets, it looks like they are only available in Europe.

I would call the manufacturer to find out what the base is for the oral suspension. It may not be a syrup. I can't find anything about the AB that says it's inappropriate for diabetic cats. It may be that Peepee's numbers are up because of the UTI. I'd see how things progress for a few days and if once the AB kicks in if numbers come down. It's going to be a matter of weighing an AB that may be sweetened with one that your kitty will tolerate.
