Ugh. What a perfectly horrible number to start the day with! ohmygod_smile I got up and checked her +5 last night and it was 125. With that number I thought it would be safe to just sleep for the rest of the night. Perhaps she went lower and is bouncing? Or...something else? This is, to me, the most frustrating part of the sugar dance -- not really being able to figure out just why her numbers do what they do.

Beyond the numbers, though, things are pretty normal. She was a purr machine this morning, followed by some checking out of the house, litter box, and hanging out outside for a bit before her test/shot/breakfast. So I'm hoping she drops soon and there isn't some underlying thing responsible for the numbers.

Have a good Tuesday, all!

Oh, didn't anyone tell you . . . they have a little dartboard, and they throw darts when you're not looking to decide what the next BG number is going to be . . . In all seriousness, though, I totally understand the frustration. All we can do is our best! Hang in there, I hope the pink-bounce clears soon.

Hi guys .. yup, not understanding why numbers do what they do is very frustrating .. but hang in there .. you're doing great and it sounds like dusty is having a good day despite the higher start .. have a great day!

Re: 5/14, Dusty, AMPS 383, +2 349 Ugh!

Thanks for the commiseration (and reminder that this happens to all of us)! It's just so lovely to have this community of folks who are (or have) gone through exactly these sorts of things before.

Alas, just a small change on the BG levels. (Probably better than a very steep dive!) Though I do notice that her allergies are flaring up today more than normal, so maybe that's it. Fingers crossed for a nice, slow slide into good numbers by her PMPS!

She spent another hour or so outside and is currently snoozing on the bed in the sun. It's not a bad life!

Hey...she's 100 points lower in the PM than the AM! Good to see it. Not thrilled with how late her shot times have become (several different engagements this last week and a half have led me to keep pushing it later), so I'll be moving it back slowly over the next several days.

More strangeness, though... As I was getting her dinner, she was meowing and doing all the sorts of things that she often does to suggest that the sooner I get her food the better. But her meows were not quite meow like. More like squeaks. Her allergies have been flaring up a bit worse than normal today, so perhaps this is a component of that? (She's been alternating between meows and squeaks...so it's not that she's unable to meow. It reminds me, if anything, of what happens when I get a cold and can sometimes only speak in certain registers.)

Hmmm, don't know about the squeaks but your allergies theory makes sense. My cats either meow or squeak, not both!

The allergy theory makes sense to me as well.
But I do remember Shadow having a few days like that in the beginning when her numbers were high that she could barely meow. (like she had lost her voice)
I wondered if it had something to do with the FD at the time.
