Morning ~O) ~O) and it looks like Mags is following a routine of a nice blue night surf and rising to a sunny yellow. Five "P's" today, including more prezzies. :-D This is three days in a row. Do you believe this, etective Poo! Mags is slightly improving on her dose of Miralax. She's now down to just a little under one tsp. of Miralax, whereas earlier she was on one tsp and a little over at times, always divided into four portions. Paws crossed for this dose. No more Lactulose,

Mags woke me up an hour before the alarm, but I coaxed her into one more hour in bed, not necessarily sleeping but rest counts. I hope Elsa has some 10 Hour Energy Coffee for us! ~O)
Mags has a good appy with two breffifs, her b/p pill in a pill pocket which is getting to be a challenge with spitting it out three times this morning before I was able to get it down the hatch, so to speak. Next is the easy one, Cisapride, which is a liquid, and she's good at taking meds via syringe.

Have a nice day. I'm off shortly to move my car onto the street. We had a two day delay with the rain. Be back shortly to visit condos.
Healing vines to kitties and Beans needing them.

Three days in a row......WOOHOOOOOOO!!!! How awesome that she's doing so well with less Poo Powder!

When Mario was taking the BP pills I used to toss a few treats at him, too...treat, treat, PP, treat, treat. The extra treats seem to help prevent him from flicking the actual pill out...he still did it sometimes, but not as often as when he didn't have the follow up treats.

Have a great day, Ann!

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O) The 10 hour energy is up and brewed!

Nice start Maggie - I like that +3. Like the blue surf at night too. :-D You surf well today too, 'K?

WooHOO!!!! Prezzies three days in a row. Inspector Poo will be so elated! Wow too on the no more Lactulose. I didn't realize she wasn't getting that any more. How nice is that!

oh wow on the pills... been there too. Mannie would cheek them and spit them out later. Sometimes I'd find them a few hours afterwards. ShessHHH! I like Amy's idea of giving with treats. With Mannie that BP med was so small that sometimes I would also be able to hide it in a small tsp of food I'd give him before I fed him. Often that would work too. Sometimes not: he eventually got very good at knowing when there was meds in his food, and then of course wouldn't eat it. Well anyways, good luck with Maggie's!

Good luck too with the car thing. How long do they say you will have to leave the Parking lot vacant? Hoe the repairs/maintenance doesn't last too long.

Enjoy your day! Off for a walk later?

Re: 5/8 Maggie AMPS 206; +3 140

I'm back and thanks on the visits. I was surprised to see a little drizzle, but the day should improve. I found a spot about five short blocks away, not too bad.

Amy, good idea on the treats. I usually wrap it in a little piece of pill pocket and have a syringe of a little water ready to wash it down. I don't always get the syringe in the mouth soon enough.

Josie, thanks on the prezzie vines. Mags feels so much better.

Michelle, thanks on Mags and Elsa, many thanks for the 10 Hour Energy coffee. ~O) ~O) Yes, we tried it w/out the Lactulose per a different Vet who treated Mags with an enema last time. She had more experience with Megacolon and suggested upping the Miralax and slowly decreasing the Lactulose until there was no more need for it. I think it's five days we need to vacate the lot, ugh!

Re: 5/8 Maggie AMPS 206; +3 140

Pretty +3 Maggie!
I give my two the 1/8 pill of Pepcid twice each day...and have found my share of discarded doese around the house. I think if you massage their throat as you keep their mouth closed it helps somewhate. But, with doing this twice a day, we are all getting tired. They hear me cutting the pill and they usualy take off and try to hide.
I have been breaking the pill pockets in half and then with pepcid i smash the tablet up. Some meds have to be taken whole though. But there are times that I take a little piece of cheddar cheese and mop up the Pepcid and then surprise them with the cheese. Anything that throws them off leaves me with a good chance of getting the pill down.
Shadow usually mouths it so it pops out again.
Raja holds her mouth motionless and when i leave her alone I am sure she spits it out....
hiding the pill in her gerbil-like cheeks.
Sigh.
Do the NOT know that this is NOT a dumb game?
Do they NOT know that we are giving them something to help them???
They drive me crazy!!! LOL
Good idea that Amy has with the multiple snacks. But if it goes on twice a day, they might catch on quickly anyway.

Re: 5/8 Maggie AMPS 206; +3 140

Oh gosh, Ann. I'm sitting here chuckling at the pill anecdotes, as I do all the same things.

Checkers can eat all around the cheese. Today, I had the tiny pill in the tiny cheese ball, with butter around that, thinking it would be so slippery, he'd swallow it whole. HAH!....licked all the good stuff off.

Like Pat, I 'mop' up the bits of pill with a bit of pill pocket, or cheese, and he still knows it's there. I just stick another 'clean' piece of goody in front of him, so he swallows the nasty one, to get at the good one. Then the kibble.

Ain't this fun?? haha_smiley

Re: 5/8 Maggie AMPS 206; +3 140

Detective Poo IS elated! :-D :-D :-D Nicely done, Mags! We give the pills in a bit of pill pocket, smaller is better. We tell Zener "Swallow, don't chew".  Per Dr. Lisa's suggestion, we roll the PP around in a bit of fortiflora if he gets picky, and that has always worked so far. Paws crossed. And thanks for the rain!

Thanks for all the visits and advice on pill popping he kitty. :-D I can sure use the help. Mags is great with liquids, but not the pills.

Hi Devon, thanks for your visit. That's what I read, too, as long as one is resting, counts for some sleep
Give Mocha some hugs and scritches from us.

Hi Pat, many thanks for your advice and suggestions. Oh my with two, and i just have the Mags! She also takes 1/4 Pepcid, and I give at her bedtime , or er my bedtime! I will try the cheese. I tried coating the pill pocket in butter, but she thought that was just to roll around in her mouth and then do a good spitball.

Hi Barb, so funny with Checkers, too, no foolin the master. Maggie's b/p pill is so teeny it does get smashed into pieces, and so I mop some up with the pp. I was just at Target buying Gerber bf, and should have bought some tartar treats. One wouldn't hurt with the pill.

Hi Detective Poo, yeah three days in a row prezzies. Nice form, too! Mags
Liz, yes, I make Mags swollow, too. I'm probably giving too large a piece of the pp. I tried some Duck and Pea, phew, strong smell, but Mags seemed to like them.

Re: 5/8 Maggie AMPS 206; +3 140; +5 144

It is tricky getting a kitty to take their pill, even using a pill pocket. I have to give Callie her Hyper-T pill twice a day. I use a little piece of a pill pocket, put it in her mouth and hold her mouth shut until she swallows. Sometimes she blocks it with her tongue before I can get her mouth shut and it falls back out. Then I give her some Temptations to make sure she swallowed it.

Back up to a sunny yellow, but at least it's almost blue!

Carla, thanks for tellng of your experiences with the kitty pill popping. I like the idea of adding a tartar treat. It's on my list for next shopping trip.

Ooh ooh my turn!
For Ripley's daily Pepcid treat, I also crush it and smoosh it up into a PP (Duck/Pea), then I roll that up into tuna flakes. (I can't use FlortiFlora ~ no bueno for constipation-prone kittehs.)

For her current A/B (Clavamox), I've been crushing it also and putting it into a little bit of her food ~ that way, I know she's eaten the full dose of A/B, plus she gets food in her system along with the A/B. It's sort of an hors-d'oeuvre; once she CPCs the med+food bowl, then I give her the rest of her meal (which has all the rest of the usual additives such as Miralax, B vits, etc.).

Wow. Now that I've typed it all out, I feel like that automatically bumps me into Crazy Cat Lady Club. (Of course, if you were to ask my DH, he'd say I've been president of that club for many years  .)

I hope you and Mags are having a good afternoon!

Hi Josie, thanks for weighing in on the pilling, as I thought of you and me with the B Vitamins. What a nifty idea with the tuna flakes. I can see myself back at Petco or PetsMart tomorrow. It sounds like you also crush the B12 tablet, too? I've ben giving the pills whole in the pp. I think I'll try cutting the B-12 into smaller pieces. It's 1/4 tablet. Yes, Mags, too on the FlortiFlora ~ (no bueno for constipation-prone kittehs.) You sure do have your pill style down pat, you crazy cat lady. And so am I!

Hi Barb, yes, nice with Fortiflora for Checkers. This is an interesting condo with our pill popping felines.

Hi Ann. Maggie made a nice drop out of the yellow zone today. Hope she does it again tonight...maybe even down to the green.

Glad you didn't have to move your car too far away, especially since it's raining. Have a great night.

Hi Ann

Maggie has been doing so well with constipation. How much miralax is she getting now? I remember you saying you had upped the dose. And that's wonderful news about being off the laculose. Woot!

Hugs
Tena

Lots to learn here today on some pill swallowing ....
I've not had any luck... i'll have to try some of this.

Hope Mags is going to slide back down tonite.
