AMPS: 306, gave f .25

Any opinions on a better syringe? I am currently using ReliOn 29 gauge, 12.7mm. Sams Club tells me they have a 31 gauge, forgot to ask the length. I am hoping for a better control on these low doses.

Thanks for any opinions.

Re: AMPS:306

I think it's a matter of what you're comfortable with. I've been using Monojects. Marje likes Terumo.

You might want to put the date and Cleo's name in your subject line!!

Re: 4/27, Cleo, AMPS:306, +3, 246

Is a shorter length, 8mm vs 12.7, any problem?

I have to praise the Relion Confirm Meter. A few times, I was sure I wouldn't have enough blood, but it sucked it up and gave me a reading. I can tell the difference from the Contour at times like that. I think I would have gotten an error with the Contour.

PMPS - 44 No insulin given

Ok, we had company most of day and I did not see any of the kitties. Looks like none of the food was touched that I left out in spare bedroom. All kitties came out as soon as everyone left. It was time to test, shoot, feed. Surprised at the 44, considering she had quite a bit of HC last night. Could it be so low because she did not "graze" most of the day? Probably since +5? She at 1/2 can of FFLC and I know she will be back up to eat more soon.

Not sure if I should give her any HC, since it is the end of the cycle.

Any thoughts?

Our monojects are 31 gauge, 8mm with half unit markings. I like the shorter needle. I can't see any reason to have a long needle with a cat.

You can't shoot a 44 so your choices are either to stall or skip. You have to feed when she's 44 (normally to stall you wouldn't feed). Have you tested her again?

tested her 1 hour later, and she was 319!! I did give her a F .25 U. Now I see that may have been wrong since she did eat.

My head is spinning.

Good job! You should definitely shoot that 319. That's exactly what I would have done. I wonder if the 44 is a wonky reading. Maybe get a +1 to make sure she's ok?

ETA: The spreadsheet has 381 and here you have 319...

Yes, I will. I should have tested that 44 again. Next time I will. And I just praised that meter!

Thanks Liz, thought I messed up

Oh, the meter still deserves your praise but every once in a while it doesn't work. Maybe it was the strip.

+ 4.5 - 295

Oh, how I wish I had just retested that 44 ~ Oh, well, another lesson learned! And, I get to sleep a lilttle longer tomorrow. And, I had a wonderful day today having family over. First time I've "allowed" what used to be a normal thing, since Cleo was diagnosed. And she survived it!! :-D

Since she is newly dx, I was just wondering why you shaved her dose when you reduced instead of giving the full reduction?
