What an exciting day we had yesterday. Not only did we have another great run of numbers, but also we received appts for Shadoe's u/s and dental this week, and we will have a new family member, Oliver, arriving this weekend.
Friday nite and Saturday will be a flurry of errands to get items for Oliver's arrival like a new LB for him and also carts of Lantus. I have already started on his ss setup, so I just need any numbers that come with him.
A huge thanks to Sonia and Tom for helping with transport and bringing Oliver to me on the last leg of the journey.
Yes, we have a big weekend upcoming to be sure.

Shadoe is oblivious and is just going about her business, and liking the lower numbers from the looks of things. She seems quite relaxed and aware, even during her greens.

Today, I will be nervous for Shadoe and worry about her u/s tomorrow morn because Shadoe is very busy doing something that she has not done often for awhile: playing.

No big plans to test so much today. Shadoe will be happy about that.

Thanks Miriam, but it was a no brainer for me.
I wanted to help more, and one look at that adorable face, I had no choice.
He is such a sweet looking lug that I had to offer.
I am so grateful to be accepted, and can't wait for the weekend to be here now.

Wow, you really did have a nice day yesterday, Shadoe!! Nice blues and greens...You really are working hard on making your mamabean happy!!
Hope all goes well with u/s and dental when it happens. Shadoe sounds like she is well and is a very happy kitty!!
Congrats on your adoption of Oliver. I wish you all luck and hope that everyone is happy and no one gets jelly-bellied!!

How amazing is that.
I am so happy that you are seeing a break in Shadoe's numbers as you
climbed uo that dosing ladder. You see, I told you you never know when
that extra amount will kick in. :lol: :lol:
Okay. maybe I did not mean up to 14 but hey. whetever works for Shadoe.

I am also so excited to get all the reports on Oliver this weekend.
He looks like a total love bug and I am so happy all the transport worked out so well.

I am happy but 2 condos for 2 cats using 2 different insulins sounds like lots of confusion till we get a routine in place!

I just hope Shadoe is OK with the u/s, and the dental is not lots of work and/or too traumatic for her. That's why I'll use my bedroom as a starting comfy place for Oliver. The bathroom would just be too small and sad to me. Booboo won't like giving up her perch by the bedroom window but tough. The livingroom has a long string of windows the length of the room, and there are plenty of other spots she can have.
Shadoe don't much care; she is not fussy, but I will fix up something nice for her in the living room for her recovery.

Lots of fun about to begin, so the nice lower numbers are most welcome.

I never see pic of Oliver! have idea where I can see it?
Nice string of #s for Shadow girl. Do You know if she is going to have any exstracton or just cleaning?
She is gonna be fine and don't worry to much!

That's the link to a picture of Oliver with the vet lady.

Who could say no to that big fella.

As for Shadoe's teeth, the vet who does all the dental at this office was the same one who has said that her teeth look fine, BUT Shadoe has never had any cleaning. She did say that you can't know without getting in there and have Xray, so, even if the teeth are good/solid, a cleaning is a good thing to get done and we can rule out any dental problems contributing to Shadoe's high dose.
The u/s is something I want to get a good idea of the status for her organs. I know that xrays could have been done, but we can always get them later, if needed.

Now all I need to know is what to do about Shadoe's am shot since her dental is for first thing in the morn but after her shot time of 6am.

Yes for sure we will adapt. We will be just fine.

Wow! Great couple days here--- and how exciting to be getting a new family member! :mrgreen:

As for the dental.... please make sure they know to be VERY careful intubating Shadoe. The acromegaly can cause soft tissue growth in the throat/back of tongue. This is what makes Fletcher stop breathing if his head is tilted up (hence NEVER a jugular blood draw, why he gets Prednisone daily, and why he can't have the SRT by Dr. Lunn-- the position would be way too dangerous). When Fletcher is intubated (for emergencies ONLY now), they use a trach tube sized for a kitten and he is monitored very closely during and after to make sure there are no issues-- he gulps because of the growth so they make sure he isn't struggling. I don't want you to be alarmed, but it's something you should make your vet aware of, k?

Shadoe was fine during the day, I guess she just ran out of juice and ended up in pinks.
Her u/s is first thing in the morn, so we will have a lazy evening - just a few tests to see how the R worked, then give her a rest on the testing.

Sorry to see the pinks back toinght but Shadoe has shown she can manage
the lower numbers and hopefully this "bounce" will clear very quickly.

Sorry about the pink tonight! Shadoe is doing so well. Best of luck with the u/s tomorrow and the dental on Friday. You've got a busy few days ahead of you. You'll get a routine down soon enough, though.
