J.D. ate his 1st Breffis and Ginger's 1st Breffis, because she would rather hide in the dark basement than eat. J.D. is walking normally this morning, but I found that it was an on and off again thing last night with him dragging his tail and pulling it in between his back legs when I touched it and walking wobbly and then walking fine with his tail up off the ground and not reacting to me touching his tail.

As you can see, I didn't get much sleep. I just emailed my vet, asking him to try to squeeze me in for an appointment either end of day today, or tomorrow morning. Fingers Crossed.

I'm off to shower to try to wake up.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning Dyana,

I hope you can get in to the vet, and that its nothing serious for JD. Fingers crossed he just has a bruised tail.

Have a good day,
Kathie

Morning Dyana,
I hope the shower does the trick for you to be bright and shiny this morning. I hope you get into the vet quickly and that J.D.'s tail and wobbly walking is something simple and easy to fix. Ginger.. munch up your breffis little girl.
have a great day, try not to worry too much. hugs mary and ollie

Re: 03/22 J.D. AMPS 255

I hope you can get into the vet today and it is nothing serious. Yay for the good appy this morning.

Re: 03/22 J.D. AMPS 255

Ginger just attacked him on the top stairs to the basement (I HATE IT when she does that, she plans it and ambushes him), but he walked past her, and just went all the way down into the basement, bunny hopping the way he does when he goes downstairs. I don't know what they see or what is so wonderful about that basement, maybe because the basement door is normally closed, but they love to go down there.

I have to go get him, and get ready for work.

Re: 03/22 J.D. AMPS 255

Sending many good vetty and feel better vines to J.D. I'm sorry Ginger attacked him...I get that sort of thing around here, too sometimes. It's always upsetting.

Re: 03/22 J.D. AMPS 255

Boy you had a night. I hope J.D.s tail issue is nothing, but I can see how it is worrying. I hope you can get to the vet or it just resolves itself while you are waiting for an appointment.

Our cats love the basement. We have a condo down there next to one of the high basement window and Molly just loves to sack out up there. I don't know why they like it ... maybe there are places to hid, or it's quiet and darker like a cave. I just let Molly down there since Leo does the stalking and ambushing thing like Ginger does.

Re: 03/22 J.D. AMPS 255

Hi guys .. aww poor J.D., I hope it is nothing serious going on with him .. I think cat's just like places that are normally closed off to them .. just like our bedroom closet .. you'd think the cat's have found the motherload of all catnip when they are in there with the way they act! Have a great weekend guys!

Re: 03/22 J.D. AMPS 255

We were given the choice of a 4:45pm today or a 9:15am tomorrow, and I chose this afternoon. I'm at work right now, and will have to do the old leave a bit early, rush home, grab the cat, and rush to the vet routine.
I hope he's okay right now.

Re: 03/22 J.D. AMPS 255

(((Dyana))) Hoping he is okay too...sending good vetty vines to J.D....take it easy and
take lots of deep breaths!! Hugs.......

Thanks for all the vines.

J.D. seemed fine when I rushed home from work.

The vet thinks J.D.'s tail is fine. His lower back may be a little sore from arthritis and it may cause him to strain more to poo. I can give him pumkin or squash or lactulose to help him.

He had his anal glands expressed (is that the word?) and there was a lot and the vet said that the secretions are normally liquid and his were wax like (big old long strings, maybe 4 to 5 inches long), so he said his anal glands were impacted. J.D. pooed about 20 minutes after that on the exam table (very stinky!).

I had him do complete bloodwork along with a T4.

I had him do a urinalysis drawn via needle in his side and the results of the urinaylsis were PH is fine, glucose is fine (negative), everything else was fine, but there was some blood but not a lot, and he thinks it was from the needle draw, and his USG was 1020 (last time it was 1023) so a little dilute. He said the difference wasn't big on the USG and it didn't seem to concern him (the vet). Normal he said was 1025 to 1050. I think I'm missing a decimal point in those figures..

We'll get the blood tests back tomorrow morning. The vet said he would wake me up. I told him I didn't sleep all night last night.

He threw in the anal gland expression and the needle draw and urinalysis, so that was nice. The bill wasn't too too high.

Ginger smelled J.D.'s butt when we walked in the door :?

After test and shot, I took the kittys outside and both of them headed to grass munching. J.D. threw up bile again. This time after getting his Azodyl capsule at PMPS. It was only a little bile and a few blades of grass. I'm surprised he can even bite off the blades of grass the way his does with only two teeth that actually touch each other top and bottom.

We are back inside now, and J.D. just ate his 1st Dinner.

Not too bad of a PMPS for all that back end work, huh?

;-)

Wow, what a day for J.D.

I'm glad the vet thinks his tail is ok, and I hope you see an improvement soon.

Poor guy deserves a restful, ambush-free evening (and so do you, Dyana.)
:YMHUG:

Good to hear his tail is ok. Impacted anal glands will certainly cause discomfort so that certainly makes sense. Molly gets all stopped up and then just licks and licks down there. Nice PMPS after all that trauma for both of you!

I'm glad the vetty visit went well for J.D.. Is he still on Adequan for his arthritis? And I'm sure if his glads were all backed up, that has to be uncomfortable. Feel better, J.D.!!!

I'm relieved that you had a good vet visit even if J.D. had to suffer a bit of indignity! And it's not a bad PMPS, at all. (I think J.D. deserves a shrimp.)

'm also glad it went well, Dyana. I was thinking about JD today and how you were up all night nailbite_smile nailbite_smile

I'm glad he expressed his anal glands. He should feel better from that alone!!

Hopefully, you can all get some sleep tonight!

Hi Dyana,
I'm glad that all went well today at the vet's. I'm sure J.D. must have been uncomfortable if his anal sacs were impacted. Rusty had his "done" twice last fall and this winter and felt better immediately (he used to "scoot" along his scratcher). Fingers and paws crossed for acceptable results from the bloodwork.

Have a good evening and get some sleep!

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Zener gets his anal glands expressed about every month or so. His walking gets even more wobbly when they get full, so we know it has to be uncomfortable. I hope that does it for J.D. The USG is 1.020. That is a good PMPS for everything J.D. went through this afternoon!
Liz

I'm glad J.D.'s vet visit went well. Hopefully the anal gland expression will help him feel better. I hope you get good test results back. Hopefully you can get some sleep tonight.
